I'll tell ya how big it is... but first a pic of the guitar in question:

It's my Crook Telecaster... for a while, I have been buying Teles that appeal to me, only to sell them because the neck is too thin. The guitar against which I compare them all is the Crook. It has the fattest neck I have ever played, and I love it to death. If I were to ever sell that guitar, I would just have keep the neck.

Here's a picture of the neck:

And another one that shows the thickness better:

Now *that* is what I call a neck.

    Funny anecdote:

I was playing the other day and had a need for a Capo. about a minute into the song, the capo just flipped open and fell to the ground. The neck was so thick that the capo couldn't handle it.

    HELL YEAH

Anyone else here addicted to big fat necks?

Wow ! That looks a 'dream' neck :D

I much prefer the solid foundation of a thick neck, but so far my thickest is the one on my Baja.

When I saw yours I developed 'neck envy' ...

Oh yeah!!! Fat necks are the way to go! Mojo, that Tele is very pretty, and I'll bet it sounds as good as it looks too! Can the bridge pickup keep up with the neck?

I love the look a Tele neck where, when you transition from the head stock to the neck section, instead of tapering down it actually gets bigger, and then finally has to taper down as it transitions into the heel plate.

The No-Caster neck has been the biggest I own so far. I know so many players with bigger hands than me, I can understand what they're waiting for.

The kicker is that I have small hands. To give you an idea, I bought a pair of shoes the other day... size 7 1/2 :)

Small hands *can* enjoy fatter necks.

The bridge pickup is a Lollar 52, and it does more than keep up with the TV Jones. They actually blend very well, too.

Nope, no measurements. The neck is from USA CG, so my bet is it's one-inch thick at the nut...

I keep praying that Tommy will have a couple 1 or 1 plus inch Tele necks on webspecial. USACG makes great stuff, but the only neck I've scored there yet is .900 at the first, a vintage Strat neck in maple. Love to get one of those Holmes' but so would a lot of other folks.

Shoe size 8-8.5. Good size, you can get the job done in a manual transmission booteek sports car or an ultra low volume squirt kayak.

As a guy with size 14 double-wide feet, I've also become addicted to really big necks.

Shubb makes a capo special for us. I ordered on a few days ago, so it ought to be here pretty soon. I'll post a review after I get it.

Can't wait to hear about it. Mine's a shubb as well, but clearly not the right model for that kind of neck :)

    That is a beauty MOJO.

I love my Baja neck. I know I play better with a slimmer neck but this one just feels so great.

Yep. Love 'em. The ones I order for a build or replacement (www.musikraft.com ) are 1.06" at the nut & 12th fret. I've never been happier. I wish I could change out the necks on my non tele guitars to this thickness. Maybe I should just learn to make a 335 / Riviera(mini Humbuckers) style.
Set necks look like a lot more work than I'm willing to do at this point in my life.
