I ordered the flat paddlehead neck from Warmoth without face dots. While the original had painted on dots. I made my dots from pickguard material. The heel of the neck had to be modified since the Warmoth neck came with 22 frets and a Strat type heel.

Must be an optical illusion because the Custom Shop reissue has a symetrical headstock.

Wells....the headstock is symetrical, but the taper to the neck, below the peghead looks asymetrical. Am I seeing that right?

In the picture on the right you're viewing the headstock at an angle. The lighting doesn't show the edge of the headstock which you should be seeing.

I like the idea of a Reissue Prototype I think it looks great. And to those who hate the headstock it could be worse it could have a rosewood neck.

Wells...here's where I see the asymmetry that I mentioned. I'm not sure why
either side of the neck wouldn't transition the same. Is this part of the original
    design?

The headstock is symmetrical .......... front and back. If you choose to believe otherwise that's fine with me.

Just looked that way in the photo. BTW...what did you use for dimensioning the headstock? Just work from a photo?

For typical MIM classic prices, I'd buy one, I think they look really cool.

I'm about the start building a snakehead neck and I was wondering what the size of the face dots that you used on it. Also, how did you go about making your face dots?

I'm using birdseye on mine too!

    Great looking guitar!

I kinda like the look of the prototype-like guitars like the two homemade ones on the last page. Those custom shop boys must be laughing all the way to the bank with those 50 they made going for $5000. As the homebuilders in the $100 challenge are proving right now, it probably cost the custom shop less than $5000 to make ALL FIFTY of those guitars. Imagine selling a single-pickup plank for $5000! The arrogance is breathtaking.

As I recall my face dots are 1/8 in. Cut them from pickguard material using a hole punch and a hammer.

Harbor Freight has this punch set for about $5.

I would never buy or build one of those, I think they are ugly, none of the elements match and the square angled plate.....ewww
I'm glad Leo made the changes he did!
