My wife and I have been on a camping trip for the last 4 days. Just got home a little bit ago. We got the trailer and SUV unpacked, then sat down to supper...and the power went out!:(

Now our camping was done in a brand new RV trailer, so we camped with water and electrical hook ups. We had a confection/microwave oven, a fridge, freezer, TV...all the luxuries of home while camped out at Pedernales State Park.

And we come home just in time to “rough it”!

How’s that for irony?!?o_O:(
It's just a coincidence, but my power went out this morning.....we're getting some desperately-needed rain, with some not-so-needed thunder and lightning. Power goes out, and I stumble around in the dark finding my emergency lights. Fortunately everything was back on in an hour, so it wasn't even an "adventure".
Sounds like you were really "roughing it" on your camping trip. :)
And P.S.......I played my Tele for a bit, unplugged, in the dark.

I ain't never had me no kolige edumacashun, so it prolly weren't me.

Seriously, I don't even get the reference. There's some science teacher out there that looks like me? That's surprising! But I do know I'm not the only one with this look...

wow, a stanley range oven. my grandmother had one exactly the same :)
I think the design has gone unchanged for over 100 years except for the thermostat in the oven door. I had to change out the peat grill for burning wood, but otherwise the same one that I first saw in Cork back in the 80s. 20 years on and still like new.

Pedernales Falls State Park is awesome.. glad ya'll had a nice camping trip. Sounds like the new trailer is really working out nicely.

We'll definitely have to meet someday at a Texas state park... lets plan something soon. Maybe a TDPRI campout, everybody bring your acoustics.

I'll be at Big Bend National Park the last 2 weeks of November...

Take care....

Right that is Lee Sklar. My point was about others besides me with the hairy-face-high-forehead look, not about his bass, though that is a beauty.
He's fortunate to have so many GREAT basses.....which of course make his playing sound so good. ;)

Allen, it was our second trip to Pedernales, but our first in our RV. It was a great time. We hike trails and/or swim, depending upon the park. We typically take a couple of hikes a day. Texas State Parks and Natural Areas typically offer plenty of nature-loving options. And if you count walking the dog to do her business, we get good exercise on these trips.

We've just had the r-pod trailer since June, but we've already stayed in four Texas State Parks (Buescher, Cleburne, Guadalupe River, Pedernales Falls) and one Natural Area (Lost Maples). My wife has this new tradition. Whenever we check in at the park's headquarters, she buys a lapel pin and a bumper sticker. The stickers go on the door of our trailer, sort of like notches on our belt.

Yeah, it'd be great to meet up on the road. For our November trip, we'll be boondocking on our family farm (about 45 minutes southwest of Ft. Worth). We won't be there on Thanksgiving Day, but we'll get close to it, and see some, though not all, of our family up there. (I'm the only one of my siblings that hasn't stayed in the area.)

Next month, we'll make our first RV-ing out-of-state trip to Mississippi. My wife will attend a business-related day-long workshop, and I'll head to the little community west of Corinth that is the birthplace of some of my ancestors. So she'll be doing work stuff, and I'll be doing what I call "rolling genealogy."

I don't know right offhand the specific dates of our October trip, but it will take us to Garner State Park. Looking forward to that. I've been in the area plenty of times (Uvalde, Leakey, Utopia, Vanderpool/Lost Maples) but somehow never managed to actually go to Garner.

Let me know when you make it to Garner State Park, I'll try to meet you there.

I spent a whole week there this last June camping and working (no PTO yah). Love Garner! Been going there since I was a little kid. The Frio Rio is nice of course, but I really love all the hiking trails at Garner.. miles and miles with some nice elevation.

We've lived in our house for 13 years and never lost power, not even during Hurricane Sandy.

Last Thursday we got to JFK and were waiting for our flight to Zurich (on our way to Vienna) when I got a text message from our electric company saying that our power went out and they'd have it back by 11:00 that night.

It was out for two days. Luckily my wife's aunt graciously volunteered to go to our house and empty the refrigerator. No way I would have been able to deal with that when we get home on Friday.

We went to Lost Maples as a short trip/maiden voyage of our trailer, in preparation for a longer trip. So going in summer didn't give us the experience of fall colors. Consequently, we definitely plan to go back someday in the fall. But this fall is all pretty much planned out, so maybe 2020.

Ssssssssssh! You guys need to stop telling everyone about our little piece of the hill country. Garner, Concan, Lost Maples, Utopia, etc.

Utopia used to be THE most perfect small town in Texas until that stupid movie came out.
