Dang I'm 27 mins late and I wanted to vote for the redwood! I might of swayed you with a heart felt observation, chanting or something.

    Going with the chanting
    Hear the crowd
    Red! wood!
    Red! wood!
    Red! Wood!
    Its working right?!?
    Red! Wood!
    Red! Wood!

Either way He's a Lucky young Man. Right on!

Both of those options are drool worthy. Never had any issues with this redwood in terms of soft wood but I’ve never had a reason to take it apart.

I've chimed in before, but will repeat myself :)

I truly dislike the neck on the 52s, so if you can find one to try then do it before ordering

I don’t know either guitar very well but at 17 years old he’s probably into modern country and that humbucker is going to come in handy.

I tried a redwood and thought it had an undefinable “special” quality, and I agree that a humbucker might be helpful for modern country sounds. The roasted Tele looks great as well. But the compound radius might be the biggest factor for me. That’s a fantastic feature on a guitar, although my favorite compound radius is 7.25-9.5”.

I have that WR HotRod 52. Nice enough Tele with the neck HB and compound neck but perhaps lacking something in the low/mids through my amps at least. As others have said the body wood is soft and very easy to ding.

I like the roasted necks. Put one on the redwood!

    Lots of help.

I can't decide, both are cool. Although if Mad Kiwi is correct on the humbucker, I think you made the right choice.

Cue defense of WRHB reply... 3, 2, 1...
