Not a bad bug to be bitten by:cool:
If not for blue note sax and trumpet players catching my ear, I might never have branched out into single note lines;)

    Wonderful!
I will always be playing ' catch-up' on my Jazz listening ( but I do have Horace Silver w/ Jazz Messengers, I think)
I was looking ( just now) at personnel for this album and Louis Hayes is listed as the drummer.
I think this is the same drummer who would go on to play with Cannonball Adderley?

    Background:
I learned from reading a feature in Downbeat magazine
( early 2000's, trying to learn...Cannonball, who I was just learning about, from playing with Miles, was on the cover)

that Jazz that never gets too far from the blues was called 'soul-jazz'

As a guy who plays Blues guitar, that sounded good to me, and I bought a lit of 'recommended' Soul-jazz CD's!

I ran across him fifteen years ago and bought just about all of his albums (on CD). Love the hard bop. But it can get a bit fatiguing over long listening periods.
