    I'm moving to San Antonio.

I'm looking for good and bad homeowners and auto insurance experiences.

If you have a recommendation for good (responsive) insurance companies - please pipe in.

If you've got a bad experience - pipe in as well.

    Huh?

I suppose you could, if you tried hard enough, find some no-name, fly by night, $1 down and $1 a week insurance company. But other than that why wouldn't you simply choose a nationally known insurance company and be done with it.

This seems like an odd question to me. Do you have bad experiences with home and auto insurance where you are now? SA's not a different country or anything. We pretty much have all the State Farm, Alstate, Gieco, Progressive and etc that the rest of the US has.

Since you are Military... just go with USAA. Plus they are HQ'd here.

BTW, welcome to SA. Bring your hat -- it's 100+ every day this summer.

Because after Hurricanes and other disasters, some insurance companies become non-responsive or overpriced.

    No.

I know that, I'm just looking for good or bad experiences.

    I'm civilian, so I don't qualify.

Whew! My hat is on the truck.

    Thanks.

I've bought my car and homeowers insurance through AAA Texas for several years, I'm very happy with them.

I would avoid State Farm. No bad experiences, but they wrote way too much coverage in the first and second tier seacoast counties, their windstorm losses have been so great that it has affected the way they write homeowners' coverage statewide. Last I heard, any new business required a $2000 windstorm deductible in inland counties.

    Are you talking about SAMMC?

I'm buying over on the NE side...near Austin Highway.
