    Godspeed to ya Keith!!!

While everyone is waiting, I know where there a couple of Twins...

Seems they make it to the backline of some big act when they come to Toronto

Well here is the rest if the story. I got in touch after 30 mins of heart racing panic. Told him I'll take both. He said someone else already committed to the Twin but I could have the Deluxe. I tried to convince him to sell me both but he would not relent over the phone. I told him, I'm on my way. Upon arrival many hours later, I viewed both amps. I offered him way more cash for both amps. I told him a story why the Twin had a special connection to me. He would not budge. He told me if the other guy fails to show up tomorrow to buy it, its mine. Damn. He told me I missed first dibs on both amps by 1 minute. Tube chart is perfect. Reads "ID". Speaker is 1958 Jensen P12R. Original cord and tubes even.

I can't complain. I'm very happy. You can be sure I'll be following up tomorrow to see if other buyer backs out.

Seller was a man of his word. An honourable man such as him is a rare find these days. No amount of begging or cash that I had would make him go back in his word to the other buyer. I respect that immensely and told him so. We shook hands and parted ways.

I wish there was more sellers that still stood by a handshake and their word. I had the opposite happen to me just before Christmas on an old Ampeg. I had already been in the car for two hours with about 20 mins to go when my cell rang and the seller informed me that he had a better offer. I swallowed my pride and wished him the best of luck in the sale.

But 6 hrs each way twice is a lot of time and gas. Anyhow, your story is what we all dream of here. Gear nerd wet dream!

    Sweet ! Congrats.

At least you can fix and play the Deluxe.

    The Twin ? No way.

If whoever gets it even thinks about doing anything to it besides listing it - they're crazy.

Re-cap ? New tubes ? New cord ? Value goes down w/ every change.

Speaking of values - the flood gates are just starting to open, so get used to there being an increasing assload of old desirable amps on the market.

    What'll the prices be ?

    Just wait...

See, I understand the whole "it's worth more 100% original" thing, but is it really worth more NOT WORKING than working?

Because if it is, that's just stupid IMO.

Personally I have no use for an amp I can't fix, play and set beer bottles on. I do that with blackfaces and I'd do it with a high powered tweed Twin. (if this is a HPTT?)
My kids might not like it but at that point I don't figure I'll really give a ****. :)

So did the seller end up realizing how bad he underpriced these?
Typically my experience is they get 100 calls and someone informs them along the way.
Congrats. Those scenarios are simply a race to who can see the post and dial the fastest, then pray you can get the cash and to the location fast enough. 6 hr drive is nerve wrecking in a case like this. Well done. Glad it worked out for at least half the goods.

Speaking as a player and not a collector if I got a screaming deal on a tweed twin I would have no problem putting some money into to make sure its healthy. Then enjoy that amp.

On the other had if I got one for a few hundred bucks like the OP is saying you could get it healthy and still make a big profit if you want to sell it.

There are players out there that would want a working amp like that who are willing to pony up some decent cash.

100 more miles to go before I am back home. Pics tonite I promise. It was an epic weekend. Yesterday a friend asked me to tag along to inspect a vintage ampeg bass amp. 1974 V4-B. 3.5 hrs drive each way. I kid you not. He bought his find too.

These adventures are great to share with others here who get it. My 75 year old Dad is the only real person in my life who gets it. Rest of you are all cyber friends. You should have heard my Dad on the phone as I told him of my windfall. I think he's more excited than me. Lol.

Wow that is just amazing. I'm so excited for you.
Please keep posting updates....and a sound file when you can.
I am a bit puzzled by the seller pricing the way he did. Totally respect him giving his word and sticking with it though. That shouldn't be surprising but it's indeed rarer by the day.
