In 1970 minimum wage was $1.60 and median annual income about $9,900.

Man strings were expensive. No wonder I never changed mine in the 80s. I remember also getting creative, and using an old used B string for an E or a D for an A, after a break during a gig or practice.

In today’s dollars, that Martin D-45 is just shy of $8000. Not even sure if it was new in the ad.

Sweetwater today for new is ~$9500 (or about $1325 in 1970 dollars). If it is expensive now, it was expensive then.

So, if you could go back to 1970, which guitar would have been the best investment in 2022 dollars?
