....for those of you who may be getting a cool used amp under your tree: Either this is some sort of oddball UK 1/2 amp fuse...

    ...or a brass staple.

Had a fairly recent recap, too.

    Be safe.

So, if I understand this.. You recede an vintage amp as a gift. The amp had had a recent recap, but this piece of copper was bent into a replacement piece of a fuse, right??? Good find!!! I would be doing a very thorough review of that entire circuit.
And...that is what you get for opening your present early!!!

I bought it for myself and said it was okay to open it.

But that's what was in the fuse holder, and why I always check.

First thing I do when any amp comes to my place, is open up the fuse holder to see what's inside.

That is actually a mullard nos paperclip , the tone from those are unbelievable, they are getting harder and harder to source.

Nice fine. Kinda scary that someone would do this. Maybe the amp was part of a live act. They wanted it to catch on fire. Gig was cancelled when the promoter learned there was explosives in the kick drum.

I'm here to say that 11 mm wrench is grossly underrated.

Lay that bugger across the terminals of a big gel cell, wow.

Had to hit it with my channel locks four times to knock it loose!
