So a couple weeks ago I saw this on ebay for $250 and bid. I thought it was an Ampeg reissue and didn't realize it was fake. It showed up at my house a couple days ago.

The first thing is it doesn't have the slide in pickup (or 'pup' for you toan daddies!) and the frets are rough on the top. The pots and the tuners are junk and I'm pretty sure the pickup is not actually an EMG, as there is no battery.

Anyways, after a quick fret level it's playing really nice. I'm going to scrape the writing off the pickguard and get some decent parts in it.

The neck is pretty close to the reissues I've played and the body is very cool as well. Maybe I'll add the second strap button but prob not.

For $250 you did okay, even if it's fake.

You can easily tell that's fake because that type of bridge was never used on the originals or reissues.

EMG Hz pickups are supposed to be passive, although that one is likely fake. I have some fake Chinese EMGs, passive models that look like actives, and they don't sound great, but they are o.k., not bad either.

I was looking at those guitars today, $250 is not a bad price. You can also get them in orange and blue plexi (the original reissues came in smokey brown and a couple of wood models as well). Also available from China without the fake writing and with "BADCAT INSTRUMENTS" on the pickguard, but they cost more.

I owned an Armstrong back in 1970. I bought it for something like $50 (probably stolen...) and sold it for a small profit within a few months.
I can't really remember what it sounded like but it did look very cool.

A tele version once hung in my pal's store a few years ago- a Dillion, perhaps? I always wanted to put a real neck on it, I loved how it looked (yes, LED lights), but it was 78 pounds, if not 97, way too heavy to be useful.

I used to see those on a fake guitar site for $400. Even knowing it was fake I considered buying one.
Finally went back to get one and they were no longer listed.
I think you did great at $250.

We had one at Music World when I worked there mid-seventies. MonkeyJefferson exaggerates the weight....they weren't much over fifty pounds.
Also, I thought the reissues did NOT have the "slide-in/changeable" pickup.....am I mistaken?

It looks cool anyway but even if its only 50 lbs, how? Good thing its not a Les Paul version. You’d need a fork lift to carry it around.

I'd make the pick guard as small as possible so more of the plexiglass shows!

And agree with the comments about adding LED lighting.
