....Happy new Ford Transit van day that is.

It was a tough call, but to avoid paying thousands in anticipated repairs for the aging Subaru Baja, I finally went and traded her in.

The local Ford dealer (over there in Decatur, Alabama) handled everything wonderfully and admirably, and I am finally driving the vehicle I have coveted for many years now.

    The Ford Transit Van.

The all-purpose music gear hauling rig.
An iconic beast, one that I admired while living in Germany in the 1980's and later on in the 1990's.

    A smooth-riding cargo van with an ultra-modern two-seat cockpit.

The Capshaw Road band will now be playing gigs with dry, secure gear, instead of wet, precariously-loaded gear.

My beloved Subaru, I will love you forever.
    And you served us well.

I wish for you all the best that life has to offer.
But I'm rocking the small white serial killer van now.

    Life is good.

    :)

I have a nephew who loves to travel. Several years ago he and a friend converted an old school bus into a rolling travel home, and made several trips around the country. They sold that, and he is currently adapting a Transit Van into a similar vehicle, only just for himself. I haven't seen it yet, but it's supposed to have sleeping and living areas when he finishes. Much more practical and economical than a school bus! :)
Since I'm a diehard mini-van guy, I'd like to have a Transit, only with side windows.

Nice! I drive a Transit van for work. BTW...nice Crimson set you got there. How are they compared to other sets in the price range?

Good for you! Congratulations! Sometimes we just have to grit our teeth and get something more suitable. Wet gear isn't fun in the long run.

    Nice, congrats!

I bought a 2016 long wheel base Transit Connect with 3 row seating. Fold all the seats down and a great hauler, and can carry 6 people if needed.
    Looks just like this one:

Cool! I've coveted those since they first turned up over here in the USA. They do seem like a more economical way to do what big vans have done and a great base for a camper van.

Congrats to you on your new Transit!

Since you admitted that you bought/owned/loved a Subaru Baja I’ll pretend I’m Sgt Schultz and “say nothing !”

Except, I’ll modify the famous PT Barnum statement and say there’s a buyer for every segment...

I’d love the biggest Transit Van they make though the thought of that payment makes my head spin ...

    Congrats !

Wait - did you get the 1.6l eco boost or the 2.5l ?

Loads of trouble with the 1.6 .

It's got the 2.0 liter engine.

Seems to go nicely, and I'm getting 26 MPG around town, thus far.

We rented the one with the most windows out west a couple years ago and liked it a lot.
