I've been hanging out here a little. I've actually made a couple posts. I'm a 69 year old man. I used to play out quite a bit. But wives and old man health issues dictate that I don't now. But when I get my knees replaced I hope to get back out there. I really loved playing for people. It's an awesome feeling. Over the years I gave up on trying to be a rock star. I discovered that I really liked what those Country Pickers were doing. So I played in a few country bands. One of them was exceptional. The guys in the band were like brothers to me. I wish they weren't 2000 miles away. I tried the fat humbucker sounds but soon discovered too much bottom in the sound made my guitar indistinguishable from the drums and bass. So I switched to single coils. My first one was a Strat copy. I was in love with the neck and middle combination sound. But that sound meant my guitar wasn't being heard again. I finally figured out that a guitar by itself and a guitar with other instruments are two completely different things. You need a sharper sound to cut through the mix and be heard. That's why we all play Teles. They're great for playing in the band. The most heartbreaking thing I ever learned was that the vast majority of people in the audience don't care about guitar players. Their eyes and ears are on the lead singer. The rest of the musicians are only there to back up the singer. The only people who care about us are other musicians. I have a Parallel Universe American Elite Telecaster HSS. I love the different sounds it has. I also have a Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 amp. It's 25 years old and still going strong. It's got a lot of cool features. I don't need a lot of stomp boxes to get all the sounds I need to fit my sound into the different styles of music I play. Mostly I use compressor and graphic equalizer. I also have a P Bass and a Hartke KB15 amp. So that about covers it. I'll probably stick my nose into some stuff around here. See yall later.
