Hi there. I'm a collector of vintage yamaha guitars (www.yamahaguitars.nl) but most of my playing in bands etc was done using a telecaster. Had a few: some 70'ies Fenders, a 52 RI, a 50íes MIM, a Van Zandt, a Custom Shop Jerry Donahue, and since recent a Custom Shop 51 Nocaster.

Most of them didn't beat my main tele: a very lightweight (3.1 kg) 1978 Fender. Sold most of my 70íes teles when prices went high and invested the profit in my Yamaha collection.

My 1978 tele didn't have the original PU's but had Seymour Duncan's Vintage 54 in it. At one point I started swapping PU's between some teles I had and it turned out that the 1978 tele with Lindy Fralin Blues Specials sounded killer. At that point I just kept my 78 tele and sold most others.

Sometimes I see nice tele's and can't let them pass. Recently had a Van Zandt TLV R2. Great guitar, but not as good as my 78. Some weeks ago I thought I'd needed one with a maple neck besides my rosewood board 78 and bought a 2007 Custom Shop Nocaster. Using them both now but still I'm not sure wich one sounds better.

Welcome to the forum. I checked out your website. I hoped for and found an SG2000.There was a time when I was crazy about that model.

OK ok,

Here they come: 1978 sunburst and 2007 CS 1951 Nocaster. Both nice lightweights (3.1 and 3.0 kg, or 6.8 and 6.6 lbs):
