Hi all from Blighty. Have to admit I’ve joined forum due to recent purchase of Blues Junior amp. But I do own Tele along with numerous other guitars. After a break of 15+ years not playing I’ve decided to have another bash before I’m too old.
I bought my Tele from a Pawn Shop. I wasn’t looking for one tbh but I saw it hanging on the wall and asked to look at it. It’s a Korean Squire, and what attracted me to it was the neck. I could see it was figured maple and one piece. Now although I own a few expensive guitars I’m not put off by who made it. I used to work in a music shop years ago and soon learnt that the worth of the instrument is in how it plays. If I remember right I only paid about £50 for it and the neck felt pretty good.
I was though disappointed when I plugged it in at home, it sounded cheap. So I bought a pair of USA pickups off Fleabay in the hope they would brighten up the sound. Well, they sat in the box for another 10+ years until I finally got round to fitting them. Anyway, after a fret dress and a Wilkinson Alnico V bridge pickup being fitted I’ve got a great guitar.
When I first got it I took it to an old mate who’s a Luthier to get a tint sprayed on the neck. It really brought out the figuring in the maple so it looks pretty good too.

Morning old chap and welcome, I bought a Korean Squier from a pawn shop, serial number came back to a 1991, one of the best necks I have had on a guitar, body was ply wood though, strange mix.

Good morning, great to have you on board.
I had a Squier Protone thinline that was excellent. Still buggered if I know why I sold it:rolleyes:
Where about in this septic isle are you?
Oh, and before someone else mentions it, 'we need pictures'.

Mine seems to be solid wood body. I’ve also got a Korean Squire Strat I bought off a mate. It was my gigging choice. Best Strat neck I’ve ever played, it’s just so slim with low action. Nicer to play than my American Standard. It’s the one I got the Texas Specials for. Must get round to doing it soon. I take it you’re an expat living in the sun ? I was looking at buying a place in Sicily until some idiots over here voted for Brexit.
Im in Wolvo btw

I heard that when squier stopped making them in Japan parts were shipped to the new Korean factory so some early Korean models had the Japanese squier parts in them, this was around 1990, so whether mine has a Japanese neck I don't know, but it is an exceptionally good neck.
Yes, I moved over here five years ago for health reason and never looked back
