Well a couple of weeks ago I was asking about cataract surgery and everyone here was helpful. It helped me make some choices. I had some damage to one eye also so it was little more involved than I thought .

On my right eye I had a cornea transplant and a cataract removed and a new multifocal IOL implanted. On my left eye I had a cataract removed and a multifocal IOL implanted.

For the first time in 55 years I am not wearing glasses and can see pretty well. Dayum.

The Intraocular Lenses are amazing. They have little flexible feet that help it flex in and out as my eye tries to focus through the lens.

Today I am going to do something I haven't done my whole adult life. I am going to buy sunglasses off the rack!

My eyes started off terrible and have been getting worse since age 40. Congrats and thanks for the ray of hope!

I have Angle closed Glaucoma, lost 40% in left eye and 10% in right, All the drops aren't doing a good enough job keeping eye pressure at bay, so they plan to do a pair of IOLs on me which is supposed to help prevent any acute attacks from happening , as well as a Trabeculectomy on the bad eye to be extra cautious. This all to try and keep what vision i have left, for as long as they can until i need more work.

Since it's plain OHIP coverage, they plan to use monofocal lens, I just looked up all 3 lens options, with the multifocal ones most likely adding money out of pocket if I want them.

All three options seem to have their pros and cons. I have 2 months before surgery, and admit I'm nervous about the prospect.

I'm happy for you that your IOLs turned out to your advantage

    all the best

Also, to anyone who hasn't had an eye test in years, GO get one, glaucoma is the 2nd leading cause of blindness, the earlier you deal with it the better. as well as other potential eye probs you may have

No that is not my eye but that is what it looks like. They wake you up as they anchor it so you can target in on sights. That way they adjust it true. I could see all the concentric circles when they were lowering it on. Cool stuff.

I was extremely nervous about both surgeries. I told the Doc I would rather watch her fix my broken arm and sew me up with stitches...lol. My doctor was very knowledgeable and reassuring. I got a little antsy under the tarp when they were bringing me out of anesthesia but the rest was okay. And yes I paid $5000.00 up front for the lenses. That definitely was money I had earmarked for something else. But as I look at the computer now it was money well spent.

several years ago my dad had one of his eyes operated on. it was the second time.
anyway, some guy next to him asked him about it and my dad told him they remove the entire eye in order to do whatever and had the guy all freaking out....bigtime, lol

In addition to seeing better, you also have this cool, but eerie, glint to your eyes when the light hits them just right. Freaked me out the first time I saw it in my relatives eyes.
