Well, I'm busy on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan comic.

But I wanted to present this particular page on its own. Because I had a lot of fun making this one.

I had a field day with the Easter eggs here.

    - Chris Bradford is a TMNT character who is very obviously based on Chuck Norris

    - CLAM TV is obvious: MTV, it even sounds similar.
    - Total Live Request is the long running MTV show Total Request Live. I even parodied their logo but with the R and the L switched around.
    - The Billboard opposite the MTV building in Times Square sits above a Foot Locker store. I depicted it how it is in real life but made it "Boot Rocker" instead.
    - Carlton Bailey, that one is obvious, it's Carson Daly, I worked with pictures to get his look right.
    - In the first panel, there's a Daria logo, since I made a lot of Daria fan art and comics and it's what I'm best known for.
    - The Wild Romance is a real band, albeit one who never broke big in America.

By the time 'TLR' started, I'd given up on MTV. Carson who?

Just my opinion, but MTV's glory days were when they focused on music. When they started getting into cartoons and reality shows and whatever other nonsense they did that had nothing to do with music, that was the end for me.

Now get off my lawn and go watch a Buggles video!

What do you do with a “Fan comic”?

Is there something like a comic forum where people share these?

I remember coming up with a “get rich quick” scheme around 3rd or 4th grade, I was gonna make comics and sell them (for a whopping 50cents!)
I hand drew about 3 of them before I gave up. Silly kids!
I didn’t really get the concept of a copy machine at the time, I could of just drawn one and copied it

Not only did MTV focus on music, but their advertisers were so few that they often played several videos back to back without commercial breaks. I have several VHS tapes I recorded of Live at the Ritz performances (Til Tuesday, Smithereens, The Call, etc.) that were an uninterrupted thirty minutes. Ah....the good old days! ;)

To me, the TRL era of MTV signaled the end of the “glory days” of MTV.

I can’t help wondering if that network’s importance might have been longer lasting had they adhered more closely to an “if it ain’t broke etc” philosophy when it came to their programming. Seems to me, they essentially hastened their own downfall in a lot of ways.

I couldn't stand that show... I knew a few folks in college who claimed they got together to prank TLR and constantly phoned in to vote for some backstreet boys song, long after they were unpopular, and got it to the #1 spot.

I'm not sure that is a prank worth playing, because
#1. you have to watch TRL to see if you pulled the prank off, and
#2. you have to hear backstreet boys

I think I would have rather busied myself crushing another online opponent in Star Craft at the time.
