My guess is he detunes his guitar, nobody can play such chaos on purpose.
I don't know if you can see it on some of your monitors but in that Henry J clip right over his head and just for a second a thought balloon popped up and he was clearly thinking of suing someone...
I know !
That's so out of chraracter for that D-bag.

Pat Metheny listening fan and I've seen the PM group a few times. He gets around into difficult music, experimental and free play, once in a while for sure. Don't forget his collaborations and projects Song X (w. Ornette Coleman), The Sign of Four (w. Derek Bailey), and No Tolerance For Silence.
I love Song X with O. Coleman, Haden, and DeJohnette. Pat has had a long and varied career. He played straight ahead Jazz before Pat Metheny Group. His collaboration with Lyle Mays is noteworthy as well. It's hard to believe that Pat is sort of an elder statesman now. I don't like everything by Pat, but he is a talented, influential guitarist.
Sorry to hijack, but that has long been my absolute favorite of all of the "shreds" videos. Hilarious.
I hate those things. Funny, one time maybe.
