I love his humility. A lesson to us all.

Obviously, he was being self-effacing. But it reminded me of a John Lennon quote:

Reporter: Is Ringo the best drummer in Rock and Roll today?

Lennon: Ringo’s not even the best drummer in the Beatles.

Yes many though he was a raving extrovert because of his act, and really he may of been abit introverted. I think many lead guitar players are more for some reason that is why they are on the modest side. Shawn Lane was maybe he never thought he was that good many said who meet him.

That alleged utterance was debunked long ago. It was made up by an interviewer or journalist.

We love these me up quotes because they are often wittier than the subjects themselves were. Lennon being an exception.

Reminds me of an A-Rod/Jeter thing. About 14 years ago, the hosts on a NY sports radio show were arguing about whether Jeter was overrated. One guy said, "The best shortstop in baseball?! Are you nuts?! He's not even the best shortstop on his own team!" I thought that was so funny. Now I know where he got it.

No, I'm too old, but I may have a younger (49yrs) brother out on the West Coast that looks like him. That's a definite possibility. I look more like David Carradine with a tan.
