Help with value of '68 Tele

Others have speculated on value. Looks like it might have non-original dome knobs, but that may not be a big deal.

Had that same guitar minus thru body holes. Paid $400 for it around 1980 when it was "stolen". Feb. 24th 2018 I received a supposedly funny/cute text with a picture of it with an offer to sell it back to me for $5000 by the now deceased thief's son (my step-brother) who inherited 70+ nice guitars. He thought that was market value at the time. Far as I know (we no longer speak) he still has it.

According to folks in the know, it did happen. Although some (most?) are without as well.

I didn't get the guitar.
The owner of the shop that has/had it turned out to be such a jackass, I couldn't deal with him.
I spent the money elsewhere.
For about 2k less, I got this:
Kind of a sleeper, I think.
A '58 Gibson archtop with a PAF for drastically less than a 10 years newer Tele.
I love Teles, but something seems a little askew, there.
