Greetings. I ordered new 250k pots the other day, mainly because I wanted the solid posts on them to replace the split shaft that had broken on one of them. (I got some new knobs with the screw on the side to go with these). The pots arrived today and they appear to be a humbucker setup. Tone knob has pop-up (coil split-type) post and the volume is 500k. Can I still use these? I just installed deluxe drive pickups.
(I'll attach a pic because I've never delt with this setup/wiring on a tele before)
    Thanks in advance

Sure, you can use them. 500K will enhance treble though, and with single coils they will be somewhere from 'pretty bright' to 'downright shrill'. Only way to know is try them, and if they're not to your liking you can just swap them out for 250K pots.

As far as the pot with the push-pull dpdt, you can either ignore that capability (just wire up one side (which is what it looks like you did)) or add something to that for kicks.

Thanks for the reply. (They came pre wired.) They were supposed to be "Fender Player Tele 250k pots". I've wired up a few tele's in the past but never seen the switch wired like that.
Maybe I need to get out more.....

How many positions is that switch? It looks like 4.

I'm guessing one for each pickup alone, and two for both- one in phase, one out?

    Huh...

Well, if it doesn't affect returnability (if you're interested in that) try it and see? Otherwise, pots are cheap.

Lest someone else who knows that setup more intimately chimes in, that's what *I* would do. I'm reckless like that, though. ;-)

I guess my first question would be, do I need all those wires on the switch. (I'll try anything........ONCE!~) lol

I'm no expert but that is a weird way of wiring up the switch. A bit hard to tell from the pic you posted, but it looks decidedly non-standard.

I suppose you could send the above pic to the seller and ask "Is this the right thing?". Since it's the wrong pot values and the one you ordered doesn't typically have a push-pull pot, maybe they mixed it up.

I sent them a message and they apologized for listing the wrong/sending the wrong pots. Immediately emailed me a return label. I really only need the pots. I'm going to reuse my current switch and wire configurations so I just ordered (2) 250k pots from the same ebay shop (thestratosphere).
Fast shipping and great response time with messages.
    Highly recommended.

Oh yeah, I've bought stuff from thestratosphere before. Good folks.

Nice to hear it's been sorted out. I'll remember that seller for future purchases.
