So I just finished the recap on my Fender Bules Deville, and turn on the power and just get a loud hum. Then I notice the grid resistor job that was done on it by electric city. They broke off the soldier joints. Tried to resoldier but there is no lead what so ever, left so I have to order 2 new resistors. The values I looked up is a 1.5k ohm but not sure if they are 1W, 1/2W or 1/4W... Help. Thanks

1/4 watt is fine electrically, but you might use a higher wattage just to have a physically larger and more stout piece to mount in that funky way.

If the 1.5k is attached to the control grid, 1/4 watt would be plenty as Ten Over mentioned above. I like 1 watt here just for the physical strength of a larger resistor. If those were attached to the screen grid, 2-5 watt is the preferred rating.

The stock ones were probably 1/2W. 1W would be fine, I don't see any reason to pay extra for 2W resistors here but won't hurt anything.

fender used 1/2 watt resistors for the control grid stoppers back in the day. Their modern amps use /14 watts. I see no reason to go above 1/2 watt....and I have never seen larger resistors than 1/2 watt used there.

Finally got the resistors and installed them last night. I thought I had done something wrong because when I took the amp off of standby there was no noise and then I played a chord and MAN! The recap made this thing sound amazing. Thanks for the help guys!
