Hello all! Any help or info would be GREATLY appreciated.
My brother is getting married and consequently selling off all his gear. Out of his collection I have my eye on two Telecasters. The first one is a 1982 Fullerton 52 reissue with original case in moderate condition for $1,500. The second is a 1982 MIJ Squire 52 Reissue without case for $1,100. I know they are both great guitars so my decision is really coming down to what is going to be the better deal. I can't find any information on what the Squire is actually worth. Would I be able to get my money back if I decided to sell either of them? What is the actual value of these?
Also I would like to note that I have no pictures of the guitars to share. Thanks!

We need pics! Get some! And if you can't, buy the Fullerton guitar if you're more worried about future investment value, otherwise play them both and buy the one you like best.

The best thing you can do is beat some sense into him.
If he feels like he has to sell off his gear, he's marrying the wrong woman...or man...who knows, nowadays?!?!

First off, (imho of course), $1500 for a ‘82 Fullerton ‘51 is a screamin’ deal...unless it’s beat all to hell!
I’m going to be selling one here soon for probably twice that (it’s in great condition), so his could be a really good deal!
I too am sorry your bro feels the need to sell his gear. But if it must be, you can give it a good home, and he can still see/play it...Cheers

Buy the Fullerton. 1500 seems cheap.

Anyone know if the Squier is worth? If it is worth what he is asking I am thinking about buying both. I just sold my 1974 Custom and have the cash to do it.

Based on the wording don’t you need to burn it at the stake?

I've played a few 82 AVRI and they oddly can be hit or miss IMHO. The AVRI strats of course were killer out of the box.

    OTOH I have a 91 AVRI that's fabulous.

    Make sure she passes muster.

I've seen MIJ Squiers from that era for way below $1000 within the last year at local guitar center actually....so that one would be a pass at that price.

I'd pass on the MIJ Squier.

I would want to try the Fullerton before buying bc at $1500, you can find a stellar used/new Teles in that price range.

Although I love the neck and feel of my MIJ 80s tele, I wouldn't choose it over my new AmPro. YMMV

    A tough decision, for sure.

Is any Squier worth $1100? It's just an old Squier.

Maybe just buy them both, consider as a loan to your brother to help him through his hard time. If he regrets letting them go, which he probably will, you can sell them back to him when he is in a better financial situation.

I want to say thanks to for all the valuable input you guys gave me! I am going with the Fullerton one. Have to wait a few days till my brother is back in town to get it. Man, I am exited! I was really tempted to get the Squire. I can't explain why but I really like the idea of it. Can't find any information on its value though. Several have been posted on reverb with asking prices of around $1,500 but none ever sold.
