Hi, I'm in need of some assistance from you experts please! I've got a MIM Player Series tele, and I'm installing an obsidian wire 4-way switch. However the 3 wires (white black and green) from the neck pickup are too short to reach the solderless connectors. So, I'll have to solder after al . Can anyone please recommend/ link me to the right type of wire to use to extend the existing three wires so that they reach please! Huge thanks, TB

    Nothing special required. It's millivolts.

Small diameter wire, easy to work with, not bulky. Doesn't even have to match what's there.

22-28 AWG is just ducky, or is it; Bob's your Uncle.

Thank you sir! How do these look to you? Does one seem like a better option than the other?

I always use coaxial wire from audio/visual hook up wire for the shielding.

    And Bob is my uncle.;)

    You are more than welcome.

I like the ebay rolls, you can cut whatever length you need, and unlike the amazon ones, not have short useless stubs of wire you'll just throw away.

Do you have an old never-to-be-used-again parallel printer cable stuffed in a box somewhere in your basement or shed? Cut that open and you'll have more than enough wire to do whatever you need with pickups, and there's even shielded wires in there if you like.
As far as soldering goes, well, if you're the type to be swapping pickups and modding electronics in your guitar, I don't think you'll be able to avoid it. I've done the "wire twist and electrical tape" modding method before, and I can tell you from experience that it may last years, or it may last a week. Do yourself a big favor and don't be afraid to solder.

Thanks for your encouragement . Now that this project has lead me to soldering, it makes sense to learn how to do it now for future projects!
