Although chorus has somewhat fallen out of favor these days, as being too 80's - I still really enjoy their sound. This one from TC Electronic works for me, as it it has so many options, as well as their Toneprint feature which alows you to hook it up online and down load custom settings. also it is a stereo pedal. Great bang for the buck.

You said you have "a" fuzz.

Everyone knows you haven't really gotten started with fuzz until you have half a dozen. If you don't already have a Big Muff style fuzz, you need one. If you have a Strat and don't have a Germanium Fuzz Face, get one of those, too. The good thing about fuzz is that you can spend as much or as little as you want- $20 fuzz pedals from the PRC and $200 Analogman boxes each have their place in Fuzz-land.

It's a good thing I found you, or you might have lived the rest of your days without starting on the endless journey to Fuzz-ness.

If I had to have only one effect, I would choose a good sounding tremolo, even over reverb.
Except the one of my Brownface Princeton, this is the best I've ever played (and I still own it):

    Chorus.

    Then 2 more fuzz.

Depending on your pickup/amp situation, I can recommend specifics.

I played through an EchoPlex pedal over the weekend. Around $200 but really cool.

I bought the Strymon Deco a few months ago for the double-track effect...but this thing does a lot more.
Honestly, the most useful best pedal I've ever bought...with the exception of a strobe tuner.
    Slap echo
    Flange
    Chorus
    Great saturation sound.

Not so much rockabilly or 50s, more classic and blues oriented. I have tremolo on my amps, so use it occasionally.

My vote is for tremolo or univibe. Don't get something utilitarian and subtle like a compressor for Christmas, man.

Digitech Luxe, or a nice compressor, or EQ
