Help! Need quick ideas for cleaning strings!

    Just Alcohol! I don't want petroleum distillates on my fingers, and soaking in. i'd take the strings off and wipe them down with a clean washcloth soaked in alcohol, the stronger the better 90%+ isopropyl.

    After you're done wiping them down, take a good, stiff 2 or 3 inch wide paintbrush and vigorously brush crosswise (perpendicular) across the strings to get out all the leftover lint, dust, dead skin cells from in between the windings on the wound strings. Do it outside in the bright sunlight and you won't believe all the crud that flies out of there. :rolleyes: :cool:

    Regular wet wipes will get you a gig extra if you're lucky but for me, alcoswabs from the chemist works the best.
