Hi, I want to buy a New Speaker for my Peavey classic 30 AMP. Right now my amp has Celestion vintage 30. I want to upgrade amp Speaker.

As you Know, Peavey classic 30 has lot's of mids. Celestion vintage 30 has lot's of mids. I don't like lot's of mids.
I need a New Speaker because I want to decrase mids.

I have research and I like this speakers;

Which Speaker is for me?
Jensen C15K (or C12N. I guess they are same)
Eminence Cannabis rex.

Which one you recommend?

Jensen -K and -N series have different size voice coils and power rating.

I am mostly a Fender guy and have compared V30, Greenback 65 and GB Neo to C12N and always like C12N more. It is very sweet sounding speaker to me and cheapest too.

There are some good Youtube comparisons of few of those.

Me too, I have researched and I like C12N. Right, it is cheap and has very cool sound.

what do you think about "c12n vs c12k"?

I have no experience of C12K or C12K2 other than what there are on youtube and on Jensentone.com

C12N RI is creamier than GB and less muddy than V30 (says a quy who does not play metal but loves Fuzz- and OD-pedals.)

To me it looks like EQ has more effect on higher power speakers like N-coil than Q-coil where EQ comes less efficient. Then if R-coil speaker is bright it more or less stay bright despite the EQ setting. Using more EQ the sound comes very bad.

Texas Heat would be a good choice, I ran them in my Blues Jr and really liked it.

The Jensen C12k comes stock in many Deluxe Reverb amps. It’s very ballsy for a Jensen. Good speaker. The C12n is a little, I dunno, less. Still good, I have one in a 1x12cab.

WGS Not a Classic 30 but I put in two WGS speakers, G12c and a G12c/s, into a 1973 Peavey Classic. Sounds pretty good to me.

Ya C12n. Not as mid heavy. More bright. Remember to use 8ohm ext speaker out and not standard out. Had maybe 7 speakers over years when I had mine. 8ohm always sounded better. Imho Think I last had g12h30 and et65. As last.

I have the Jensen c12n in my tweed blues Jr.

Lovely cleans, clear, complex, bright.

I have a Celestion Midnight 60 in my classic 30.

Sounds good as does the old blue marvel.

I think the classic 30 has a voice between the british sound and the fenders so i'm not sure c12n is the best choice.

Listen to classic 30 sound samples on youtube with different speakers.

Also, the Celestion Midnight 60 is used in the Marshall Origins.

I'll agree with those who recommend Eminence Texas Heat.

I tried a C12N in my C30 from my Twin Reverb and I didn't like them. I found it harsh sounding. I used Texas Heats for a while and it was my favorite speaker years ago but I found I prefer the Celestion Vintage 30!

FWIW the Eminence Red White and Blues is basically the same speaker as the original PV Blue Marvel so you can rule that one out if you didn't like the original Blue Marvel.

Read the OP's next post, so removed my recommendation of an EQ pedal.

C-REX in my Classic 30 several years ago. It was an amazing upgrade, in my opinion. I never switched back. Love that speaker in this amp. In fact, I bought another several months ago for my Studio Pro 50 amp....same great results!

I'd recommend a Warehouse Retro 30. Per the WGS website it's a "brighter and more articulate version" of their Veteran 30, which is similar to your Celestion. I put Retro 10s in my Delta Blues a few months ago and I really like how they woke the amp up.

But at the end of the day there's a limit to how much of an amp's essential character you can change with a new speaker. This circuit was intended to be more Marshally than Fendery; it's just a midrange monster. IMHO putting an EQ in your effects loop is going to give you more flexibility, especially if your goal is to get rid of all those mids.

I think the Cannabis Rex is a good choice, very efficient speaker. Also, you might want to consider the Warehouse Guitars (WGS) C12S or C12C/S speakers. They are vintage American style sounding speakers, no mid hump like most of the Celestions, so should fit your need in the C30 quite well. I have the WGS C12S in an open back 1x12 birch plywood cab that sounds great with several heads I have (Quilter 101 Mini Reverb, VHT Special 6, & Seymour Duncan Power Stage 200).

Thanks for all reply...

I have another question, As you know the peavey classic 30 is 30Watt amp.
The jensen c12N is 50w Speaker.

the general Speaker power advice is twice time of amp power. In that Opinion, Spepaker power should be 60w... But jensen is 50w.

50W is enough value? Does Amp does damage the Speaker? Is there any other problem?
