Only serial number on the bridge: 61716
Anyone with a hint?

What makes me hesitant believing it's a Fullerton is the high serial number.
SN 61716 .. so wouldn't it be a later model from the 90's or even early 2000's`?

I entered the serial number on zinginstruments.com and here's what came back:

the zinginstruments.com lookup spits out Fullerton whatever you put in there.
I just typed a serial number I know of a 2000's model and it still said Fullerton. lol

I'm not seeing anything that says it's a fake; it appears to be an AVRI '52 Tele. That serial number would place it as you say 2000s-ish. You really would need to see the stamps on the neck heel and in the neck pocket of the body to get an actual date. Plus any barcode stickers that might be on the body itself in the pickup cavities or control plate cavity can help you tell just what it is.

Fender's serial number lookup isn't complete - individual instruments fall through the cracks as entry is a somewhat manual process. It's my understanding that the current instruments are entered into this database after they are boxed up to be sent to Fender's warehouses - someone has to scan a bar code sticker on the box at some point in this process; that is what gets it into the database that is searchable. It's also my understanding that the process was even more manual before they started with the current stickers that are on the box - someone had to key it in from other paperwork.

Jeez, if that's true it's no wonder that Fenders SN lookup is totally incomplete.

Looks like the '52 reissue tele from the series called simply, "Vintage Reissue", late '90s or early 2000's. I don't think the series actually had a name like they've done the last few gens. I played one of these for a couple years owned by the band's bass player. Great guitar as long as I didn't want to do too much soloing (radius and frets issue). Very enjoyable guitar.

What do you mean by that?

That there is a late 50s/early 60s Fender of some kind with the same serial number. It would be more proper to say the number was duplicated. But whatever late 50s/early 60s Fender had that number isn't going to be a butterscotch blonde Tele and it is going to have the serial number on the neck plate.

When Fender hit serial number 99999 circa 1964 they went to those "L" series numbers starting with L00001.

I'm not sure why Fender decided to only use a number on the AVRI '52 Teles when they came out in 1982 - I suppose they just wanted them to look like the originals as much as possible. They probably should have used the "V" prefix like they did with the other AVRI models.
