Only if you always use that amp.

The answer usually seems to me, the more I can get out of amp, the less pedals I need.

How many threads are here looking for the best spring reverb pedal, or tremolo pedal to provide the best mockup of the real thing? If these things are already on the amp, thats $400+ in pedal savings right there.

Same goes for boost and overdrive.

Find the right amp and pedals become much less important.

Are you not content with the current arsenal?
I am interested in why not if so.
I’m completely happy with my current amps, and have zero intentions of ever letting them go. I think it’s more just the desire to have “one of everything” than feeling like I don’t have enough. I literally could get rid of all my gear (which has taken a long time and money to curate and accrue) except my Tele, SFPR, Red Llama, and DD-20 and be completely content and be able to “gig” without limitations. I have been insanley blessed to be in the right spot, at the right time, with the right bank account to get some great stuff. But in the end it’s just stuff. If I sell these pedals, but the guy sells the amp to someone else before I can get the cash (possible) I don’t think I’ll miss them very much.

…I can't choose without knowing what pedals.
…But what are the pedals?
Fulltone OCD v2
Fulltone GT-500
Fulltone FB-2
JHS Kilt v2
JHS Morning Glory v4
1995 Rat 2 (flat box, MIA, LM308)

If I get the average market price (based in Reverb) I’ll still be a little short, but I’ll be close enough.

Ok. I’d move them and get the amp only because those are all replaceable should you decide you can’t live without the OCD or something. They’re all nice but I think you’re gonna make a good choice.

Yeah, I'd trade those for an amp. I'd keep the rat if I could.
My thoughts exactly. Never owned a Rat, but heard em live plenty of times. I'm not one for distortion nowadays, but the Rat always has been the exception. Such a nice punchy distortion. A 90s Rat is a pretty cool thing to have imo. The other pedals -while great quality ones- can easily be obtained again.
Also $900 for a mint Custom Vibrolux is a really sweet deal. Almost too good to be true tbh. I'd be all over that but I'd also be very careful.

I don't think $900 is low for the 68 custom series vibrolux. They were $1200 new not that long ago.

Anybody that says get the amp because with a good amp you don’t need pedals doesn't live in my world. Pedals are textures. If you don’t need them then great. If you’re one of these straight to amp guys…that ain’t me but you do you. I once sold a lot of pedals to a shop in Cali and I miss some of them. It’s up to your playing style. I’ll get that Fender Pinwheel back!

It’s the problem with asking strangers for advice. They tell you what they would do, but it doesn’t mean it would work for you.

I didn't vote yet because I have a question. I'm somewhat of a pedal fanatic and know that certain pedals, (no longer made), just can't be replaced without a huge amount of looking and who knows how much bread. I have probaly ten or twelve pedals I could live without and wouldn't need to replace. If I was given the opportunity to buy an amp I'd really had my heart set on for a long time I'd be more than willing to part with these dozen pedals if it was required to make the amp purchase. If the amp was just something cool that might be interesting to own then no. I'd keep the pedals. If the purchase required me to give up even one of my special pedals then again no. I'd pass on the amp. So my questions for you .........

Are any of the pedals you're considering giving up considered, by you, to be an integral component necessary for you to achieve the tone you recognize as your own personal tone?
Did you purchase any of these pedals out of, by your standards, necessity to achieve your tone?
Would you recognize you without one or more of these pedals being on your board?

All three questions are really just one question rephrased because I consider it an important question that should be considered before making your decision. If you answered yes to any of these questions then the pedals that caused you to answer yes should be removed from trade consideration. Something special should never be traded in for something that could be / might be special. It's the "bird in the had" thing. Regret comes from releasing one for another that never equals the one you let fly away.

The original post contains your answer.

You’ve wanted the amp for years and have an opportunity to buy it now for an attractive price.

You have some gear that you don’t use that you could sell to fund the purchase.

This is only a difficult choice if you are worried about missing those pedals that just sit unused.

You already have a bunch of nifty amps. Would the new one just sit around like those pedals do now? It’s over to you to find the balance point.

All the pedals I would sell have been sitting on my pedal shelf for at least 9 months without being played, or missed.

I play all my amps regularly, and often will play 2 in stereo. It will get heavy use from me.

I love pedals too! That’s why I have two large shelves loaded with pedals I never use. Some were for a specific purpose, some for nostalgia, some just for fun. All the pedals I’m considering selling are pedals that I’ve either found something else that works/sounds better to my ears, or I never used it to begin with but “just had to have it” because someone on the internet told me I HAD to have it.

I have an opportunity to buy a Fender ‘68 Custom Vibrolux in Mint condition for $900. I’ve wanted one ever since I played on a couple at a local music store a few years back.

The pedals I would sell are all pedals that mostly sit on the self, come down from time to time for a spin, than back they go.

There's your answer.
