Hi there, my name is Antonio and as a long time user of Fender guitars I decided to post here because I know that there´s nobody that knows more about telecaster than the people in this board...

I´m asking for some help dating and identifying the exact model of one of my guitars...

This instrument was bought second hand around two years ago from a friend of a friend, and I have some doubts about the genuinity of the parts of the guitar...

The guitar is a Fender Telecaster, the neck is made of maple, with the "Fender TELECASTER" logo in it, 22 frets and in the back of the headstock there is a Made in Usa stamp with this serial number Z6165720 and a small kind of sticker reading Fender 60 on a diamond, I have investigated a little and have found that the neck seems a genuine fender part and the serial number seems to indicate that it was made between 2006-2007, maybe an American Standard from those years.

The body color is a brown sunburst, with binding and with a original (i think) fender Bigsby tremolo installed. In the back of the body the joint plate reads Fender 60, diamond anniversary, 1946-2006. But i´m not so sure that the body is really part of a 60th anniversary guitar or if only the joint plate is genuine.

The main problem is that i haven´t been able to find a single model of telecaster with maple neck, bigsby installed, made in usa (as the neck reads) and with a joint plate with the 60th anniversary so i´m supossing that the neck and the body may be genuine fender parts put toghether in this guitar.

Could you help me with this ?, do you need any more details about the guitar ?

My guess is that the neck seems original, maybe from another model of guitar and that the body may be maybe from a Custom 60 Telecaster with Bigsby (japan ?), but again, i´m not sure...

I attach you a link with many photos of the guitar, so that they could help you to find out some details !!!

Many thanks and best regards from Spain !!!

And sorry for my poor English !

I'm gonna say some kind of Squire made in some other country IF it is even a Fender.
The neck countour is way off and different than any I've ever seen and the headstock shape is a little off for any USA Tele.

The shape of the headstock looks like an American Series to me. Compare it with these pics:

But the decal and "Telecaster" font just don't seem to add up? I always thought that the 60th Anniversary headstocks still used the 'spaghetti' logo?

As for the body - looks just like a CIJ 62 Telecaster Custom to me....

It does look like the headstock shape and truss adjust are right there, but that's a '70's style logo... I'll speculate it's a Hwy 1 satin finish neck (if the headstock is shaped that way on Hwy 1's).

NO, no, no the end of the headstock is just too bulbous for any Fender I've seen!:!:

That bodyshape is even worse than any '70s or Squire! Definately not an MIJ! The body looks kinda like Basswood.

I have already done it two days ago, still no response.

I´ve found in Ebay some Necks that seem genuine fender parts sold by a guy named "reliablefender" :)roll:) that seem just like my guitars neck :

Could it be ?

The body intrigues me more than the neck, looks like a CIJ 62 but how could i be sure ?...

Some mark in the join between the body and neck ?, electronics ?

Looks like a highway one neck to me. It looks oddly shaped because of the angle it is shot at - that's all. The body looks like a Japanese '62 Custom with a factory bigsby.

Fender just confirmed that the neck is a genuine Fender Highway OneTM Telecaster® (Upgrade) neck, 22 frets maple fingerboard.

Still nothing clear about the body...

Anyone ?, does the Bigsby seem genuine ?

I've seen several of the Chinese fakes (both Fender and Gibson), and they have authentic looking serial #'s, Made in USA, everything. A detail that looks fishy to me, besides the headstock logo, is the body binding, which on the Chinese guitars is smoother and shinier than on USA guitars, and kind a funny color. Hope it's not fake, but...
By the way, aren't the lower priced, pot metal Bigsbys made in China, anyway?

Take the neck off and post a pic of what you see in the neck pocket. Also take off the pickguard and control plate and show us a pic of what you find there. Without seeing those everything is pure speculation.

I'm going to say it is '60s Classic with Bigsby body and a Highway One (Upgrade) neck made in 2006. I see nothing wrong with the shape of the body and don't find the end of the headstock to be too bulbous as someone has stated.

The neck pocket can probably identify the origin of the body. I'm betting Fender Japan.

It is probably a '60s Classic with Bigsby formerly owned by someone who wanted a maple fretboard and changed necks.
