Thanks much! I've been a member over at TGP for a long time, but I just discovered the DIY Amp section here. Don't know how I missed it previously!

Welcome yooper, lived just outside Sutton's Bay for a bit, made it cross the Mackinac a few times into your beautiful backyard.

Born and raised in lower Michigan and while very nice country down here in Howell it’s no comparison to the majestic UP. I love Houghton/Hancock but spend time mostly in the eastern UP during the summer trips up.

    Welcome!!

Houghton is great in the summer and autumn, but man, their winters are too much for me even. My sweetheart just applied for a few jobs up there though, so I might have to tough it out.

Great downtown there. I took my wife up for the first time to the western UP a few years ago (she’s from southern Colorado) and we stayed in Handcock in a hotel next to the bridge and walked to Houghton. Mmmmm, craft beer and good food. The walks back were fun!

A good friend I grew up with moved just south of Houghton (his family was from there) and I spent the thanksgiving week with him to deer hunt. It snowed non-stop for 5 days.

I drove a Honda Civic then.

Took me 6 white knuckled hours just to get to St Ignace. Never doing that again, I assure you.

Fortunately, I work from home. So even when it snows, I don't have to worry.
