Long time lurker, first time poster!

I first started playing guitar back in high school, mostly heavy metal and whatever was trendy back in the late 90s. I got busy during college, and next thing I knew, 20 years had gone by without picking it back up.

About a year ago, I decided to get back into playing and got myself an American Profession II Telecaster and a Yamaha THR30II. Flash forward to today, and I’ve got a great little pedal collection started, and have been really enjoying finding my tone through the process.

I‘ve mellowed out quite a bit over the years, so my new interests are mostly centered around classic rock and Britpop.

Looking forward to joining the conversation!

Cool! Your personal guitar trajectory is very similar to my own. I, too, took about a 20 year hiatus from playing after my initial love affair with the instrument during my teens to mid twenties. Like you, once I got back into it my tastes changed and the Telecaster ticked all the buttons for me. Still probably my favorite guitar type out of the many I own.

Yes, Britpop. Still love it! That 1993-1997 golden era was great. Pulp, Blur, Supergrass, Oasis, Charlatans, Suede, The Verve, and many more!

Very cool! I think our story is a pretty common one, returning to our roots and finding passion again!

Britpop takes me right back to my early/mid-teens, so it’s nostalgic all the way for me.

Welcome to the forum! I'd be curious to know how you like that Yamaha amp!

Srini
Thank you! The amp is really something else, really great for when you want to take it out back or on a day trip somewhere, you just turn it on, plug in the wireless transmitter and go for hours.

It takes pedals amazingly well, and since I use a few amp modeling pedals in my setup, there is a Flat voicing on the Yamaha, which turns it into instant stereo studio monitors or headphone monitors.

I’m actually doing a bit of an experiment this next weekend, where I’ve ordered a dual 1/4” TS to 3.5mm TRS cable that I’m going to plug into the Yamaha’s stereo aux input. The idea is that I’ll use the stereo out on my amp modeler into stereo delay/reverb pedals, then out to the aux input on the Yamaha. This should in theory give me a wet/dry/wet experience through a single amp. Fingers crossed it works!

Very nice! Thanks for the great review. No plans right now, but I may look at getting something small to use in the living room, you know, nothing loud or fancy, but nice and convenient. Your Yamaha sounds great for that. Thanks again!
