Hello all!
I joined quite a while ago but just lurked for the info here till now.
The usual but necessary intro: I’ve been playing guitar for about 25 years (I should be better, really), born in Canada, lived in England for the last 12. I play guitar, I write songs, I sing songs, I teach music and sometimes produce peoples albums on my teeny tiny record label if they can’t find anyone better to do it.
Uh.. guitar stuff, I play mostly (but not exclusively) teles loudly, a lot of slide too. I listen to a lot of Rock n Roll, Old Blues (like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Lightnin Hopkins, Jimmie Rodgers etc) Southern Rock (I suppose you’d call it that, is stuff like The Band and Little Feat Southern Rock? Cause that’s what I mean. Not Skynard.). I grew up listening to country and have always loved Merle, George Jones, Waylon, Hank and so on. Not Garth or any of that.
If I had to say, and I know I don’t:
Top 3 Bands: Black Crowes, Stones, Faces/early Rod Stewart
Top 3 guitarists: Rich Robinson, Keith and Ronnie Wood. (What a surprise…)
I have 2 bands, a full blown rock band that rarely plays anywhere but releases albums and an Americana band that plays anywhere but doesn’t release albums (yet).
What else? I have a dog named banjo. I also have an actual banjo that I can’t play.
