I went to Mohawk College in Brampton WAY back in '84. I commuted from Hamilton daily. I took the commercial art and design program. Locals know that Brampton is the home of Wayne Gretsky and Phil Hartman.
If your making a tele as a 1st build check this one out...

As far as finishing goes, I don't think that it could get easier than this.

It isn't just the locals who know.

If only Wayne played guitar!

Welcome, Rodney.

Ah, come on, you two... those guys only wish they were from Brampton... like Lee Aaron and Russell Peters! ;)
I think you might be confusing this town with Brantford but we're not far from there.

If Wayne played guitar like he played the puck, he'd be a hell of a band mate!

I kinda left this thread hanging when I started my build thread. If you're interested in following the agonizingly slow progress of a complete newb with everything to learn, you can tune in here: My First Build.

This will take a while but I hope it'll be worth watching.

Hello, My Tele People!

I just turned 50 and I'm pretty excited to be starting my first ever guitar build.

I own a Korean made Les Paul copy (since 1988?), a Godin Session (Strat), a Gretsch Streamliner Jr., a Guild acoustic, a Martin D15 and an Oma (Taiwan) acoustic.

I'm in open-book mode right now, just trying to understand the scope of what I need to learn. I recently discovered a local wood supplier and I purchased by blanks last weekend. African mahogany body, walnut neck, red marblewood fretboard and a couple of MDF templates.

I'm really looking forward to this... like nothing I've ever done.

Cheers,
Rod

Thanks! It was my only guitar for a decade. But in all honestly, since building that tele partscaster, I've barely touched the ric
I came very close to buying one about 10 years ago... my wife basically kicked me out the door with a "Oh, fer Christ sake, stop moping around the house and just go get it!". I'd been eyeing it for a while. You could have lit the night sky with the fire coming off me as I hit the local Long & McQuade. I got there ten minutes later and... yup... gone. "Not an hour ago", they said. "And you're the third sap to ask about it since it went out the door", they said.

Noooooo! That sucks

I was very lucky with this one. I stupidly sold a 330 a long time ago and always had regret.

Then the wife and I saw this one at the 12th fret in about 2008. Its's a '92 and definitely player grade. But it was only $1000. I've still never seen a ric used for that little. I'm incredibly happy with it.
