Hi all from the always rainy Netherlands (actually snowing right now),

Been a fan of teles for a year or so. I first started with the squier cv 50’s and since yesterday the proud owner of a fender baja telecaster 50’s from around 2006-2007.

As you can see from the inside of the guitar cavity, the previous owner has refinished the guitar in natural. The remaining paint inside the cavity makes me think it was a desert sand or blonde or something. Probably desert sand since the original pickguard that came with it was white.

The rest checks out, the serial number, thick v neck, s1 pot and 4 way switch, ash body, custom shop neckplate, jumbo frets and the fact that originally it was desert sand or blonde or something which was an original colour at the time for baja’s.

Love the sound of the pickups, the out of phase of the s1 switch is very useful too. The v neck is something to get used too, but im getting there. And overall this tele just feels quality.

Maybe an upgrade would be to put a nice bakelite black pickguard on it instead of the plastic, could be nice.

But all in all, happy to be a part of the forum.

    Keep on rocking,
    Jack

Beautiful! When I saw the pics and your post at the top, my first thought was "Whao! I've never seen a Baja in a natural finish!"

My Sister-In-Law lives in Holland. Maybe you know her?:lol::lol:

The neck is my favorite thing about my Baja. Congrats on the purchase!

Welcome!....beautiful Tele. I'm partial to natural finishes.(see my avatar) I also REALLY like a tortoise-shell pickguard on them. ;) ENJOY!

Thanks! It is very nice indeed. However, desert sand was my preferred colour and I was looking for one online. When this trade deal came up for a natural refinished one, it broke my heart a bit seeing that the tele probably had my fav colour of all time originally, when checking the internal. But oh well, the natural look has a charm of it's own!

If you really like the Desert Sand color, refinish it yourself (or have it done). That's the great thing about Telecasters.....you can change ANYTHING!

Yes the thought crossed my mind. I know a guy that does some killer relic and nitrocellulose stuff. Maybe i'll let him have a go for a nice desert sand in nitro who knows. But I'm in no hurry, might as well enjoy the natural finish for a while since the previous owner did a pretty good job refinishing it.

Welcome aboard. Very fine, fine looking telecaster - not all natural finishes are appealing, but that one is very attractive. I think you're on the right track to not rush into a refinish - it has a sort of uniqueness that will eventually be more noteworthy than just one more desert sand baja might. Maybe.

Tele owners who own Bajas, are very positive about them. Congrats, I love the natural finish.
