just a sad day for you Shuster.. My coffee maker is on its last leg too. Even cleaning with vinegar.

It takes an hour to brew a pot. She doesn't pump like she used to!!

I had one of the early brauns for years. It was the only home brew
that could make it right. After they cancelled production I would
go to garage sales just looking form them.

I have been using the same tea kettle to heat water and the same Bodum French press for over a quarter century. Throw away plastic coffee makers is disgraceful and don't get me going on the Keurig landfill disaster. An inconvenient truth, so it is time @Shuster to make the change.

I've been married to my coffee maker for 37 years. I believe she has a few more years in her yet....

    Sorry about your loss.

I was sad when my cappuccino gave up the ghost after 15 years but not sad enough to start a thread. I went out and got a new Breville and got a Williams Sonoma credit card to save 20%. My wife was with me so all the savings went toward stuff she didn’t need.

Those are the hardest times to go through. Standing there, that mound of dirt, the cold creeping into your bones, you shudder, then you realize; What the hell it's July and I'm wearing Cargoes and a Tee.

Some have to be forced into better coffee..

Try an Aeropress! I bought one for travel last year and now use it daily. Got a ceramic burr hand grinder...Only draw back is any other coffee will be a let down...

I've got a Keurig that I've had going on six years, it's been a trusty morning mate, but I just KNOW that day is coming, I don't know how I'll handle such a shocking change to my routine.

This little buddy was purchased early on a Sunday morning in the 90’s when our expensive what ever brand it was broke after 1 year. I bought this as a back up while my ex researched another expensive coffee maker. We went through half a dozen in the next 15 years and this grungy little guy would come out for a few weeks when they inevitably broke down. When we divorced in 2010 I took the back up and have used it ever day since then. There was a year I had a girlfriend who hated looking at it and bought me a fancy one. I soon as we broke up I brought out old reliable and put the fancy guy in a closet as a back up. Still using this guy as of this morning he’s still doing fine. 01C6734C-EEE4-47A2-98A3-AC421A55BB67.jpeg

If you are going to Keurig, this thing is pretty amazing for saving some major $$ and for decent tasting coffee.

Again, stainless, easy to clean, and better tasting when you grind it fresh yourself.

Sorry for your loss. I prefer my coffee brewers to have little to no mechanical parts. My preferred brew methods, in order...pour over, Aeropress, French Press, Moka Pot. All give much better flavor extraction than a drip maker...especially pour over and French Press...the former because part of the brew method is to first moisten the grounds with hot water and allow them to "bloom" before actually brewing. Most drip machines brew so quickly that by the time the grounds are starting to open up and release their peak flavor, the brew cycle has already completed. Maybe give one a try.

At a time like this, you callously throw cold water on a man in morning? Oh, I get it, you're ENGLISH!

Get a stainless pour-over maker and don't look back. Cheap, easy, great coffee!

What usually happens to these is, the container falls and shatters. We used a smaller sized receptacle for about 8 years, until we saw a new maker on special discount and so the old one with the wrong "pot" is stored somewhere, for now.

My Sad News was, another one of these Sharp microwaves blew up on Sunday. I don't buy the Chinese ones, and the ones from "Elsewhere" tend to be second rate.

As I sit here at my desk in the comfort of my man cave, I'm sipping a cappuccino brewed in a matter of a few seconds by my faithful Keurig Coffee machine, I'm entertained by the rantings of a man hopelessly mired in the past. (knowing full well, the little plastic cup will provide employment for someone as it passes into oblivion) DELIGHTFUL! :D
