    This is pretty interesting.

A few businesses are starting to play high frequency noise to keep the youngsters away since the older you get the less of the higher frequencies you hear. Adults will not even notice the sound while the kids will despise the sound....sort of like using those pest repellent devices.

I don't know if that is a good idea for any business, but it interested me enough to test my hearing limits...which weren't all that good apparently because I stopped hearing the tones at 12,800.

I found out on my home stereo that my hearing isn’t what it used to be. All the upper harmonics of cymbals are gone. I can’t hear the treble knob on my preamp anymore (though it’s centered really high). Good thing guitar is so heavy in midrange.

Be aware when using a test like the frequency sweep test in the link- many playback systems wont reproduce the frequencies at either end of the spectrum well enough to rely on this method to judge hearing loss.
IOW, You may more likely be primarily testing your playback device.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Oh, I know that’s the case with my little Bluetooth shower radio. No output until the upper bass range. Or is that the lower midrange?

    Try some quality headphones.

Hearing ranges? My range doesn’t make any sound, unless you count that click when the oven reaches temp.

I heard from approx 40 to 15,000. At least my ears still work.

They have been doing this for years. Apparently not at shopping malls.

It's not a good idea...some of us older cranks like me can still hear that into 16K range.
I work with a lot of mid-20 somethings that have the high frequency ring tones...drives me crazy.

Just hire Yoko to do intercom announcements...it'll have the same effect.

The US owes Roseanne an apology...

Pretty sure YouTube’s compression algorithm cuts out at 15-16k.

I dunno who surfs the tdpri on a shower speaker.
    Maybe @Toto'sDad ? "Paging Bakerfield!"

I am pretty certain there is medication for that now...

Amazing little known fact. She rehearsed extensively for that performance...

I'm checking to see if my Bluetooth speaker is water proof. If it is, I can take the laptop in the plastic bag out of the shower, it's pretty hard to see the screen when the bag is wet anyway.

I've got white noise from too much gun shooting and loud amps ... but it does drown out Mrs. Obsessed's voice frequencies.:D
