I watched Blow-Up numerous times as a kid, not just for this scene, though it is it’s calling card.
*It’s the Vox, not the guitar, wey!*
and Vox Amps
At least he had a half decent back up guitar player in the band to take over......
This guy Jeff was out of tune minded that day... disgusting.
Not the same thing as Thowsend, J. Strummer, K. Cobain, etc
Ironically, even if he did get it right it still would have sounded like ass because his guitar was out of tune.
i don't understand why you get mad at the guitar. it didn't do anything to you. i get mad at myself.
now faulty equipment...yeah, sometimes all you can do is throw it across the room.
Smashing guitars- especially quality instruments really grinds my gears.
That said, Pete Townshend culled a fair few Rickenbackers, so not always a bad thing..
Pete started smashing SGs 'cause Strats were too hard to break. The most he could do to a Strat was rip the neck off of it.
That clip with Jeff is from the movie Blow Up, which was all planned and staged. It was clearly a cheap prop guitar. In the next scene he's walking down the street with a Tele. I've never heard another story about him ever smashing a guitar.
My Take on it!
“He hates these oil cans!”
[Pagey smiling] "My rig's working just fine."
