Just when I think I have found the tone I have been looking for, I always push things a little too far by adding something different to the pedal chain...which leads to frustration. Then I begin to doubt that I ever really found the tone I was looking for in the first place!

I realised I lost "the tone" one time.

Doing some recording with one of my old bands I'd bought a brand new high quality guitar cable, not realising that "the tone" was in the cheap crappy microphonic cable I'd been previously using.

I found it surpisingly in a Squier CV50 Stratocaster, a Jet City JCA22H and a BBE sonic stomp!

Music Man Luke 3 + Lava Coily Cable + Muchxs Morpheus cranked to 11 or so = tonal bliss. You can also replace the MM L3 with my Fender 'Merica Standard Tele and still = tonal bliss.
