Just wondering if it's now in America?

What do you think of it?

Spotify has become a go to place for music in the UK and is great for music discovery, and us little indie bands.

I heard about the site yesterday from a coworker. He has been a member for a while because he spoofed his ip address and signed up for a UK email account. I requested an invitation yesterday. Should be able to open an account in a few more days.

Spotify used to be amazing. You'd get unlimited plays of any song they had (and they've got loads - it's like itunes) with the occasional advert and all for free! Now however, you only have a certain number of hours listening a month, adverts and restrictions on the number of times you can play each song. Still, not bad seeing as it's a free service I guess.

Been listening to Spotify at work nonstop since I signed up. Mostly old Blue Note stuff.

It's got loads all the Stones, Rush, Yes, Genesis, etc and obscure indie bands I also really like Lush, MBV, etc. In fact almost everything except the Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin ... I've got all that anyway ripped from CD ... and it's on youtube.

It's really good for little bands like ours because people don't have to pay money to hear us, and we're presented like all the other music. We're pretty excited about US launch because we get a lot of college airplay in the US.

For acts who need dosh it's probably a bad thing, but I uninstalled itunes and stopped downloading ages ago because of the updates, and streaming was easier.

So far, I like it. More variety than I expected and better sound quality. Still checking it out.
