Have any TDPRIers tried the Behringer RD-6 drum machine yet?

Looks like an affordable hardware copy of the Roland TR-606, which I’ve never tried but looks fun, portable and straightforward.

I had the original version . fun , for a while .
Alesis SR 16 my favorite for ease of use and sounds, not expensive , indestructible, and rumored to have been the get up and go behind the Big Black Studio and live sound.

How many times are you going to ask this question?

I have only asked once that I’m aware of...what are you referring to?

Edit: I just did a search and saw that there are in fact two separate threads by me, identical OPs, with the same time stamp.

Not sure how I did that, but it wasn’t intentional...

I'm more likely to go Roland Boutique, if at all. Had the original new a long time ago.

This rumor is false. There is a reason the drums on all Big B recordings (except Bulldozer) are credited to “Roland.”

Sounds just like the original, which is still used all the time in pop, techno, hip hop, etc.

I have one, and also have the TD-3. I think they are fun to mess with. I think they are plastic and that they feel very light and cheap, but I also think they are unlikely to ever leave my little studio. I think they sound good.

How many times are you going to try and get useful answers and information from this forum? People are saying it may be patrolled by philistines.

I had the original 606 and bass machine and the cable to synch them (proprietary!) boy I had fun with those two. I sold my 303 to an insane person in the late 1980's and my 606 died in the 90's. I have seen these repops and kinda want one.

That era passed me by, but on some of my older home recordings I used a freeware thing I found that ran on Win 98 and XP, called Hammerhead Rhythm Station, and I believe it was pretty much an on-screen 808 or 909. I had a lot of fun trying to make that behave like my non-drummer conception of what real drums might do.

(Translation: a lot of the time it frustrated my ass off and sucked, and once in awhile it seemed brilliant. With less operator error I’m sure the proportion of brilliant would increase sharply.)

Anyway, a portable piece of hardware that can do that in the analog domain Sounds very appealing, even if the snares turn out to sound like HPF-ed bursts of static and the kick sounds like stubbing your toe on a...heavy sound-absorptive thing. That would just beg for distortion pedal experiments...and apparently this unit has a DS-1-like circuit in it for that purpose already.

I have been tempted by these myself as I quite like the 606 sounds, but I've managed to restrain myself as I do all my electronic music running midi on cubase and don't need a stand alone unit, - my vermona drm1 covers my needs for dodgy electronic drum sounds pretty well! More fun factor in the standalone unit though - bah I want one again now! ...Must resist!😁

It’s also the street cleaner drum machine and a big part of the backbone of my band.

some odd things are happening since the up grade.
I was credited with very intelligent posts that were wonderfully insightful humorous, wise, but impossibly above my pay grade and I.Q. level.
