I have no problem with Mr. Mayer. He's one helluva player, IMO. I've bookmarked that video... I'd like to cop some of those licks.

I love it, at 10 minutes he say's "I'm starting to learn that". Then at 11:25 he says "That's what I practice, trying to get better and better".

What is the saying: How long does it take to get to Carnegie Hall? Answer; 10,000 hours. These great players are just in love with playing.

Hate is such a strong word. How about: Dislikers are gonna dislike?

Yes, he can play, and I still don't want to hear his music.

    Johnny Winter he ain't.

Same here... but to be honest, it's his singing that I hate. I don't have a strong opinion of his playing one way or the other.

John Mayer reminds me of a camp counselor: he takes care of the children to earn his money, but gets down 'n' dirty when they're not around.

Now that is when I can use the word 'hate.' I truly hate to hear even one second of Mayer's singing.

I really like his blues playing. Even in the first 10 seconds of the clip, the expressiveness and musicality of his playing just jump out as being beyond what most players can do.

His ego-driven media nonsense used to be amusing in its self-awareness. But since his meltdown, I haven't seen anyone as grandiosely maudlin since Nixon.

But that's beside the point. His playing is really good and as sincere and true as anyone I've heard.

I do notice he seems to get a lot of flack on this forum but he seems a great player, I'm not familiar with his music or his singing but I think I'd have preferred they'd flew him over here for Glastonbury rather than Kanye West.

    Mayer is a great player.

Speaking of haters hating, is it me or does that PRS just sound so.. generic? I miss his strat tones.
