Has anyone ever seen a prettier neck on a mini-strat kid's guitar?

A few years ago my wife brought home this mini-strat from a garage sale with this stock flame neck on it minus the Gotoh Klusons on it of course. I sanded down the body (yes, it's plywood) & painted it Shoreline Gold but haven't ever gotten around

to putting it together. Surely this isn't seen too often.

I have a 99 am std strat with a moderately figured neck... never seen a lower end guitar use such nice wood. Makes for a special guitar.
I saw an American Standard with a neck like that. The store's Fender guru said sometimes they mess up the measurements on a custom order (like sanding 1/32" too thin) and instead of wasting they toss it in the parts bin. It was definitely NOT the normal carve for an AmStd and the serial lookup verified it's authenticity.

A Squier Mini is a whole other thing though. Luck of the draw!

P.S. the Shoreline Gold is gorgeous.

Back maybe 25 years ago I bought a Yamaha Pac112 solely because it had the most ridiculously flamey neck I’d ever seen. I got it for cost because I worked for a dealer. I think the guitar cost me like $80. It was CRAZY flamed.

But no, I’ve never seen a mini with a figured neck.

On a mini?

No way!

Both the neck and the gold body are
gonna look super eye-catching together!

Your wife has a good eye!

By the way, does anyone know the scale length of these things? It's also got a nice rosewood board on it & would probably make a fun little guitar.
Jell us!

Ours is nowhere that pretty. Think the CS would make us a neck like that?
I'm sure they would but it wouldn't be anywhere near as cheap as what my wife paid at the garage sale which was close to free almost. And I'll bet even with the plywood body you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference in sound from say, a one-piece alder body or some other type of body wood. I'm thinking about putting it together for my daughter to learn on even though she's 23 & then when she gives up learning just keep it for myself. She'll inherit all my gear one day anyway. Might as well do something with all the parts I've got just collecting dust, like the tuners pictured on it.

More like a good eye for anything cheap. I promise, she didn't notice the figured neck. She brought home a 1941 Craftsman badged drill press (made by Atlas) that I tore down & restored a while back. They don't make em like they used to as that thing is rock solid & if taken care of will still be doing its job long after I'm gone!

I can't decide whether or not to clear coat it (in nitro of course) & polish it out or just leave the paint alone & let it naturally relic. The neck is nitro.

The scale length is listed as 22 3/4". I ordered some Yosemite pups for ours.

That gloss on the neck is very nice. I think I'd gloss the whole thing. It'll still relic eventually. :)
