Just not sure where to start or finish with this one. Have had my Squire Classic Tele ordered since December.
Got the call and went down to pick it up. Really....still do not know what to say , think , or do here. But I guess I am going to keep it. I ordered the White w/Black guard. IT'S REALLY NOT WHITE. As it shows the grain of the body well, I have to wonder how (in comparison to everything else I have seen...video and pictures/ads) this left the factory like it did. It is almost pinkish or orange like. Like they did not put on another coat. It is really light white. Not white. Not an off white EITHER. Not an Olympic white. UGH!!! I would take a pic but not sure that you would see what I see and get a good picture of it.
Almost want to take it back. Or drive to Corona, CA and have them give it another coat. Thoughts ?

are you maybe talking about the "vintage blonde"?
if so-mine is also opaque, and not white, per se
    I believe that is normal

I don't know about the new ones, but my 2013 was almost banana-pudding-like if that make sense, its an opaque finish, don't expect olympic white quality on it.

They were always bit colored, never white. My 2008 looks like banana or yellowish (but sounds awsome ;-)) and is almost solid colored. Then I had for a short while 2017 one and that was more opaque and bit pink looking. The only real solid white was Squier Vintage Modified Special, which had a P90 in the neck..

All the early Broadcasters, Nocasters and Telecasters from 1950 on were the exact same color as yours when new from the factory, a whitewashed blonde finish with clear lacquer over the top.

The difference with the early so-called butterscotch blonde Telecasters is that over time the clear lacquer yellowed.

Well, in about 1955 Leo started using clear lacquer that didn't yellow as much.

None of these guitars should be opaque. They all show the wood's grain. Your guitar does an excellent job recreating the color as new Telecasters from the early 50s

Here is my Squier like yours with the pickguard changed to white to match a 1955 Telecaster:

Here is an actual 1955 Telecaster:

Here is an early BlackGuard. The picture is black and white, but you can still tell the color is blonde and not butterscotch.

Fender makes reissue guitars much more expensive than your Squier, that look a lot like your Squier:

Yeah that's my understanding, that it's in actuality a very authentic coloring.
And when I said opaque above, I meant to say transluscent

It’s not like it was originally painted in Corona, Ca. Not sure why you’d take it there unless you know of a painter there.
That colour is how it’s supposed to be. I have an American Deluxe Strat from 2013 that is white blonde and it’s the same as you’re describing and it’s awesome.
Sounds like you’d prefer a solid colour plastic dipped tele?

I think it's just a matter of expectations being different than what he ended up getting.
OP: I hope you learn to love the very cool color of your new tele

I recall seeing some really early CVs when 1st introduced having a greenish tint to them, enough to put me off... The next shipment had resolved that tint issue, and its been consistent ever since, a nice opaque/semi-transparent white blonde.
What has not been consistent is the weight, they seem to have progressively become heavier, some getting into Les Paul territory. I wish I'd grabbed an early production one.

Mine has a kind of hint of vague ghostly purplish tinge to it shining up through the depths of the finish that you can only really see at certain angles

Sounds like white blonde. I love this colour! The oldest teles had this colouring and it's killer! Very very vintage

Came to complain about opaque vs translucent, blowtorch handled it.

Holy snapping duck shat werent these like $250 when they came out a while ago? Now it's the same price as the thinline??? Am I misremembering?

Guitar prices are going bananas. I should've bought a White Falcon or Keliher V while I could. The Koa Les Paul is pretty attractive though.

Purely a matter of personal taste, but I dig it when you can see the grain sneaking thru on teles.

Yeah my misuse of the term "opaque" goes many decades back to the first time I'd heard it used, and it was used wrongly then, and it's stuck with me ever since; I can't seem to un-learn that
