what can i say 77 pounds for this? wow! it's a beautiful colour! i mean really beautiful. yes it's heavy but not too bad. waiting for a couple of gold parts to come but it's going to look very nice, this paint wants to chip a lot! the pickguard wasn't cut that great so i had to re-shape the neck pocket part which means now i have to re-drill all the pickguard holes and that is scary cause the paint is fragile. the neck is unfinished but i love how it plays and it played great out of the box the frets were just a bit dirty. i tried another neck that is 55.56 mm and it was too small so ill have to keep this neck anyway. pickups are cheap as can be but i don't really care what it sounds like i use pluggins anyway so ill tweak it. i'm really happy with it but lets hope drilling new holes goes smoothly! thumbnail_IMG_8386.jpg thumbnail_IMG_8387.jpg thumbnail_IMG_8389.jpg thumbnail_IMG_8390.jpg thumbnail_IMG_8394.jpg thumbnail_IMG_8412.jpg

I've got a HB coming to the USA. According to the package tracking it has been stuck in Rodgau for 8 days.

    .

Thomann is supposed to have a big warehouse in Pennsylvania. Probably other types of delays at the delivery company. It will be there faster than they project.

If you're doing mods right away ... use a 4-way switch and reverse the control plate for V-T-Switch to the back. Also add a shielded cable to the jack if there are only two separate wires, for more noise reduction.

Just incredible what you can get for so little these days. Try and believe this..... I've been playing for many years; long ago in 1968 I paid £25 (my college grant for books!!!) for a pre-owned Czech built Futurama II, that was a lot less than fantastic. This, I understand equates to £475!! today.....and for pre-owned!!!

    That's not correct.
Thomann doesn't have any warehouses in the US or elsewhere.

everything gets shipped from Germany. someone here on TDPRI directly asked the question to Thomann and got that answer.
try the TDPRI search for that.

It 'disappears' for a bit (a few days) as it goes through customs and then gets transferred to whichever local carrier is doing the local delivery. With all the Covid craziness it might be a bit longer now. In my case, USPS handled the destination delivery and did a fantastic job (intact with no damage!)

Rodgau is not far from Frankfurt Airport. when the tracking moves your package should be on a plane and with you soon.

That's a rather unusual delay - Thomann provides an excellent service; I guess it is just the combination of a global pandemic with restrictions on flights and bad luck?

The guitar has now been "processed for export into the destination country" for 11 days. It is out of Thomann's hands I guess.

That guy from Thomann might just be acting a part though.

I bought one of their Tele copies this year - everything about it was great - it had nicely finished SS frets, decent hardware and pups, proper cavity shielding and nice contours and weight relief.

Only one problem: it was easily the worst neck diver I've ever had the misfortune to hold, probably because the weight relief took out all the counterbalance required to keep the guitar level. I sent it back the following week.

That said, they are making major strides in the QC department on their higher spec'd guitars.

You should use solomusicgear. They are based in canada and shipping is only about a week. All their kits are priced well. The most expensive is a gretsch white falcon kit for about $300. My tele kit was $120. Just finished it last week.

Here is a list of all my upgrades.
    Fender roller nut
Wilkinson 3 saddle compensated bridge with brass saddles
Tuning machines from a Fender Starcaster
Fender American Standard 3 way switch
    Fender American Standard jack
    Fender vintage 1meg tone pot
    Fender vintage 1meg volume pot
    DiMarzio True Velvet bridge pickup
    GFS vintage 52 neck pickup
All cavaties are shielded with copper tape
Vintage wax coated push back wiring
Hand wired in the vintage 53 telecaster style
    Treble bleed circuit
Fender Greasebucket circuit from a Highway 1 Telecaster
String trees are in non conventional locations
And finally, I aged and distressed everything by hand.

    And some photos.
