Good day to you all! I hope you are as good as can be. :)

When I recently bought a used MIJ Tele, I was mostly just thinking about all the joy I was gonna have playing Surf and Spaghetti Western chords. And it I would break it out when my cover band plays a couple numbers by The Police.

However and to my absolute delight, I'm finding this sweet axe is excellent for Punk, Garage, and other ballsy kinds of RAWK! I can't wait to see the guys and break this out for Joe Jackson's I'm The Man.

Are you using your Tele to get gritty? Please tell me about it!

No, but if I could get Gritty on a Tele, I would pay big bucks for it!

Granted it's not a traditional Tele config, but I used a 72 Thinline as my main axe for many years in a Punk Rock n' Roll band. Switching to 500K pots really brought the WRHB's to life

now I've got a Dimarzio Chopper T coming next week that's going in the bridge of my Sandblasted Tele, that should be able to handle any harder/heavier stuff I throw at it ( and hum-cancelling! )

I was playing some Ron Asheton Stooges riffs with my Tele yesterday. I was hooked on playing I Wanna Be Your Dog. Normally I would use a humbucker guitar and superfuzz clone, but with the Tele, I just got the Orange up and cooking and goosed it a bit with a Bad Monkey OD. I had a tasty buzzsaw groove going, I love this!

I know that Page used a Tele on Zeppelin 1. Who else has RAWKed out on record with a traditional Tele?

I get plenty of grit through my 5e3 and Vox AC4HW1

Not necessarily in my hands, but there's not much, if anything, a Tele can't do.

You can even defend yourself with it! Keith wouldn't try this with his Gibson Black Beauty.....

I’ve got that pickup combination in one and love it. But, now that I’ve fallen in love with a couple of other humbucker guitars, I’m thinking about going back to a single coil bridge.

Thanks for that! I did not know that about Thayil! Will be listening closely to Superunknown! And which RATM? I'm really only familiar with the first album. And I know I need to go deeper into The BKs early catalog.

I will check out Thrice, I've never heard them.

That is about the coolest vid I've ever seen, especially the last part where he casually slips his Tele back on. Keith's legend grows!:D:cool:

I know! I wish there was footage of Pete Townshend clobbering Abbie Hoffman with his SG at Woodstock. E-P-I-C!

I played a mid 60s Esquire through a Hiwatt Custom 50. It sounded like Godzilla.

I’ve also played a Tele Custom through a little Gibson GA-5. It broke up heroically. Pure rock and roll.

There is very little a Telecaster can’t do.

Well, anything by Status Quo! Not super popular in the states but quite well known here across the pond in their heyday.
