I just want to wish all of my fellow TDPRIers south of the border a happy Independence Day. My wife's grandfather came up from Coeur d'Alene around 1912 with his brothers to homestead around Athabasca (couple hours north of Edmonton). He married a (Scottish/Cree) Métis woman and he worked in the coal mines around Blairmore and Coleman in southern Alberta. In 1915, he enlisted in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and went overseas to France. He survived WW I, came back to Alberta, homesteaded just east of Edmonton and raised a family. I was down in Colville, Washington a few years ago just before the 4th of July and came across this Made-in-USA US flag. My wife proudly displayed it on the wall of my basement studio. Have a good Independence Day!
