The beringians discovered north America 20,000 years ago. I thinks that's long enough to leave the scare quotes off indigenous.

Goodbye, Columbus. Phillip Roth was way ahead on this one.

I visited two friends, and had a turkey leg for dinner.

Waited hours for the repairmen to come and repair my LG refrigerator. He replaced the compressor and drier. DON'T BUY LG REFRIGERATORS!

Went to the dump and recycled motor oil and cooking oil. (In retrospect I am surprised that it was open)

Threw the ball with the dog twice.

Kept checking the mailbox until I finally remembered that it was Columbus Day.

Watched "1492 Conquest of Paradise" with my wife and youngest four children.

Now I'm going to go out to my building and play my newest acquisition. A Martin SC-13e. LOVE IT!!!

Enjoy the rest of your evening and Happy Columbus Day!

To hell with Columbus. If it wasn’t that fool it would of been somebody else. So Eurocentrism makes for a holiday? Lol.

As for the peopling of the world through the Strait, well its a simple part of life. Anyways, I celebrated AZs brilliant Indigenous Peoples Day today by going to work

Went to my best friend’s daughter’s (my “niece”) 8th grade volleyball game. That’s about all I did for Columbus Day.

I took out one of my old McCulloch chainsaws and raised hell with the buckthorn we have so much of around here. It makes excellent firewood for the firepit.

if it's about exploration, then how come we don't celebrate the fact that the polynesians had the balls to sail to and set up shop in hawaii 1000 years before that?

    they're americans too, after all.

Started running again in July after being off two and a half years

Yesterday I finally drove the three miles away to run steep hills.

And I did much better than I thought I would,
especially running mostly flat areas the last three months!!

I went to the post office satellite yesterday, which was open thankfully. As a federal holiday that we take later in the year, I'm holding off on celebrating till then. With both indigenous and non-indigenous blood, I'll pull rank and maintain my own opinion.

I think it may be because every day in Hawaii is a celebration within itself :)
