So I go to the Post Office because I needed to get something out ASAP. Post office was closed. Then I realize it's Columbus day. So HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY! For anyone with a three day weekend, you do anything good?

I went to Home Depot and spent money to put new countertops in our kitchen. Going back tomorrow to spend more for tile flooring.

Weather was kinda crummy here. I did go jogging up in the woods...but nothing special I guess.

Here’s to Columbus though! Say what you will, but dude could SAIL!

I smoke cigars, drink scotch. Come to think of it, I do this everyday. Everyday is Columbus Day.

I didn't even know it was until I saw this post.
I guess it's downplayed these days.
    I just went to work.

Sat in the urologist's office most of the afternoon. Median age was probably 70.

Had tuna and crackers for dinner.

Columbus was a complicated guy, a product of his time and place. Living in the 15th Cent. was very different than today. He was brutal in a brutal time.

His 2nd Voyage brought sugar cane to the Caribbean...cultivated by slaves eventually taken from Africa. Some of these slaves adapted local materials into a musical instrument and incorporated their music with the music of Spain and Europe...giving us the banjo and a host of musical forms that would change us all forever

In 1400 and 92, Columbus didn’t do a damn thing he set out to do...

Columbus was at least an adventurer and courageous fellow. You have to give him some credit. I think Leif Ericcson discovered North America a few hundred years earlier. Explorations of that day were epic, that's the point. It was like going to the moon in that day.

My son and I went to our storage unt today to ( hopefully) dig out and find a few specific guitar items I miss having around and we found them, yay!
( we now live in an apt., hence the storage unit)

    - a Ditto Looper to sell on CL ( 5 years old but only used 1 hour! I'm not a looper kind of player, it seems)

    - a new 8" Jensen replacement speaker ( for whenever I blow out the one, cranking my Pathfinder- I kill this poor amp, and it just takes it)

    - 11 Gauge- built Fuzz Face-type Fuzz ( very dynamic fuzz, thanks 11 Gauge!)

    - my trusty Boss Tremolo ( back in action for Thursday gig)

    GOOD DAY!

As Hawkeye said on M*A*S*H, "They all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round -- but he went on to write a great song!"

In honor of Christopher Columbus, I went into my neighbor's back yard, planted a flag in it, and proclaimed it as my "discovery".

The "indigenous" people you refer to came from Beringia.

Worked in the morning. Here it’s referred to as VI/Puerto Rico Friendship Day. Tried to get a bowl of kalaloo but by the time I got there it was all gone. Got an order of tostones instead.

In a time when they didn’t even have toilet paper... he was sailing into new horizons. I actually think more celebration and glorification of risk takers and explorers would benefit our world. Happy Columbus Day!
