Thought it would be fun to post favorite clips of James on his birthday.

    Yeah !

    The Man.

From a bar in Chicago the night before Clapton’s Crossroads festival.
Watch all the solos (Skaggs, Gill, Lee) and then tell me that the solo James does at 5:00 isn’t cooler than all of them.

They divorced because of the fact that James couldn't be tamed.

That was his Brit cousin, Richard. :D

Happy Birthday, James! If I hadn't heard you I may have not ever picked up a Telecaster. Now whether that's a good or bad thing, I can't really judge...

Clean playing, clean tone. I'm surprised it sounds so good, given that he's got one of those riduculous, tone-destroying, Strat necks on his Tele.

That's fun. James knows how to play rhythm, solo just enough to fit the song, then step back again.

Also, for those who agonize over choosing a vocal mike, that's a Shure SM57.

I Was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Burton once. While I'm always nervous of meeting my heroes , he was extremely gracious and took about five minutes to chat and sign my copy of Corn Pickin and Slick Slidin.

Waylon Jennings once said, If we could all sing like we wanted to, we'd all sing like George Jones. Well....I believe, If we could all play like we wanted to, we'd all play like James Burton....I know that's not possible, the man is one of a kind. I heartfelt Thank You and HAPPY BIRTHDAY James!
