... Due to the drying effect of some sanitizers they put moisturizers in them. That may be what's causing the "glue."

... ain't used 'em yet 'cuz the last gig had REAL bathrooms ...

As a naturalistic germophobe, bathrooms are a pain. The worst part is the door handle typically.
I avoid hand sanitizers. First, be cautious when entering. If you must pull or turn a door handle, find a napkin or use part of your shirt to enter. Once your in, make an exit strategy. You can wash your hands if you like, just make sure that paper towels are accessible to turn off the sink and for the door handle if you can't use your foot for the door to exit. The air dryers are really no help for door handles and are a bit upsetting. The trick is just not to touch anything and to use your foot to flush.

Wouldn't your shoes get wet?....

I'm probably the opposite of a "germaphobe".... I don't even obey the 4 second rule when I drop food.... I don't fear bathroom fixtures...
. I teach guitars at a primary school full of little "germ bags"...

I can't remember the last cold I had..... considering germs are floating in the air all around us all the time..... just lucky, I guess...;)

People don't seem to want to admit to this, they just blissfully go along killing all the good bugs with the bad. We don't use anti-bacterial anything and we never get sick. I have never in my adult life taken an anti-biotic either. No colds, no flues, no infections that my body can't handle, my immune system is fully functioning and keeps me protected.

to be fair that specific article didn't address alcohol based hand sanitisers. I can see the need for them in certain situations, when I worked in a warehouse where everything was covered in a fine layer of dust my hand would constantly start drying out. I used a alcohol based rub to get the crud off and a moisturiser to prevent my hands drying out and cracking due to the constant contact with the dust.

Some sanitisers are better than others when it comes not feeling sticky so id say find a good one which leaves no residue.

I also try to avoid antibiotics and pain killers, most infections are viral anyway and as you said the body is designed to deal with pathogens in its own way.

Isn't this to stop alcoholics drinking it?

There's another factor to the alcohol. In my healthcare IT work I equip new hospitals. I've seen a hospital opening delayed because the fire marshal correctly accounted for too much alcohol in a given area. There were sufficient hand sanitizer dispensers for clinical process, but that added up to too much alcohol in a given "fire compartment." They had to wait while the vendor manufactured a special run of dispenser bags that held less sanitizer.

Like the stuff is going to catch on fire...

When it's hot and you're sweating like a pig, according to Bones, your Johnson is the cleanest thing on stage, just run your hands down the front of your cargo shorts, adjust to the left (or right) wipe you hands on the front of your cargoes and you'll be good to go. If the front row has some of them good looking women just a little on the trashy side, it'll be good advertising.

How to make hand sanitizer ;

take an ice cream bucket' and fill 1/2 way with canned fruit ,(flavours dont matter ) ,top off to 3/4 full with boiled water, stir contents till mixed add sugar as much you can lift from the commisary add Yeast As much as tou can lift from the commissary add liberal amount over the fruit, water, sugar, mixture then take bread slices and place on top of the mixure, set to one side for now, clean your toilet very well , very, very well then flush at least 3 times to enure its full of as cold water as possible , once tiolet has cycled for the last time place the ice cream bucket in the toilet sitting in the cold water and cover the toilet with a hand towel (to keep the flies out) let the mixure sit for several weeks ,repeat cleaning the toilet every few days and replace the bread slices . after about 3-4 weeks , remove the bucket , dispose of the bread slices and pour the contents into a clean bucket screening out the fruit, bread and yeast chunks with a dirty sock, and your hand sanitizer is ready.

step 2 ) drink as much of the filtered sanitizer as you can stomach until you pass out or puke and pass out ,then you dont need to worry about sanitizing your hands

step 3) dont get busted buy the bulls as they make their rounds every night and watch for cell checks!

Lost in the 909 trying to find my way home
Played yet another four-hour outdoor show in 95+ heat and humidity, and of course the ubiquitous porta-potties and hand sanitizers are there. Evry time I use the stuff, it's like I've stuck epoxy on my hands when I go to play. Wears off after the set, and I dose up again.

I LOVE the outdoor shows with the little footpump water sinks and paper towels, and I'll take what I can get, but *SHEESH*, aside from sticking my hand in the cooler water (which is helpful but entirely gross), I might as well play with wide-receiver gloves on ...

This happen to anyone else? And if so, what's the solution?
Disclaimer: using a waterless degermer and not soap and water is not clear considered effective hand hygiene after using the toilets or if hands are visibly soiled.
But since you asked...
Effective waterless hand sanitizers are 70% alcohol with some kind of emollients added to lessen the adverse drying effects this can have on the skin with repeated use. They can be in gel or foam form. As they age in the dispenser I find the gels become thicker and stickier with use. In my experience, foam products tend to be less sticky.
I suggest you bring your own fresh foam hand sanitizer, or individually packaged wipes for hand hygiene in these situations.
It’s recommended you rinse your hands with water after every forth or fifth application. You use bottled water to accomplish this. Remember adequate hand hygiene takes at least 20 seconds.

I'm too OCD to use hand sanitiser stuff because I always imagine that my hands can't be clean without soap and water.

As an aside, I like to lick my fingers as I emerge from a public bathroom - you should see the look on people's faces!
